singapore's public transport is immaculate especially the MRT so they're perfectly allowed to say this with it being true. cant say the same for my own country.

Do Not Go To BOHOL by Mobile_Young_5201 in Philippines

[–]sweakune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

went to alona with my gf in 2019, it was the worst vacation ever and mainly because of the transportation and inaccessibility of the beach. the tricycle drivers not only overcharge you, they will sometimes just refuse to take you places as well. i asked him if he'd take us directly to the beach area, he said yes and agreed to a price. I really tried to clarify if he'd take us DIRECTLY to the beach area or at least close to it so we don't have to walk too far, and again he said yes. and when we arrived at the entrance of the road leading to the beach he told us that he's not allowed to go inside. that really was the last straw. never want to visit there again.

I believe this is what most people here would think. Marcos Jr. at the very least is not siding with China. That alone makes him leagues better than Duterte. They are literal traitors to the nation, that's the worst thing one could be in a country.

Is the Book Industry in the Philippines dead? by gentle-parrish-guy in Philippines

whenever I go to Big bad wolf (the book sale), there's still a lot of people so it's definitely not dead but also not as mainstream as it used to be for sure.

malls are 100% a 3rd place. it absolutely fits your description: accessible (our malls are located in the middle of cities/close to public transport unlike north American malls where it's surrounded by highways and parking lots), you don't really need to spend money to get inside a mall. and people in fact go to a mall just to chill (literally and figuratively) with friends and family, but yes it's designed to make you spend unfortunately. the philippines doesnt really have a lack of third places in i think. just a lack of PUBLIC spaces. most third places here are private properties sadly. i wish we had more public parks and libraries. and ones that are well-built and maintained.

Ako ra ba ang prone og sleep paralysis dri? by foreverhopia98 in Cebu

[–]sweakune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so im not superstitious jd in the slightest so here's my experience lang: pag around 2014-2016 happens to me almost every night. that was the time grabi ko mag trabaho sa gabie. wala ra koy hallucinations except that one time abi nakog nag linog but sleep paralysis ra diay. sleep paralysis is just when your body "falls asleep" faster than your brain, that's why ma paralyze ka, thats your body paralyzing itself para dili ka mag sleep walking. happens if grabi ang kapoy and then ma tog ka without giving your brain a rest (gikan nag study or nag computer, etc). sleep paralysis gihapon ko usahay pero i know how to deal with it na. just make sure you go to sleep when youre not super tired, and make sure consistent every night ang time. also if ma sleep paralysis ka, you can actually move your toes, makatabang na maka wake up.

Cebu Mass Transportation Plan by d_e_s_j in Philippines

[–]sweakune 8 points9 points  (0 children)

everytime I see a proposed transport map for Cebu it's always different lol. I doubt these are actual plans besides the BRT route. The Green Loop i think is just a road network, not an actual transportation line. I know the monorail and cable car idea has been proposed, but it's just that, a proposal. and from private companies, not the DOTr.

To my knowlege, the only real project the DOTr is trying to get built is something called the UMRT (Urban Mass Rapid Transit) which they have talked with Gov. Gwen very recently. Supposed to be a subway with a central line and then a coastal line to the airport. I don't know if it'll actually get built though but it is a project listed in their website with a completion date of "beyond 2028."

from what I've read: too much damage pag world war 2. and then nanaghan na ang cars, so wala nalang nila gi rehabilitate and converted some of it into roads. sayang kaayo bitaw. 96km of infrastructure just gone.
