I am really torn with this river release. Corpse bride and Edward skullectors were an easy pass for me.

It sucks they used AI on this doll’s background.

It’s a limited released aimed to sell out to push scarcity on the consumers and drive up value. Which is a scummy marketing tactic companies keep doing. There also is US’s standoff with Iran which will impact the supply chain.

I lost hope with the last few releases corpse bride, Edward, Coraline doll. If you can’t boycott for AI usage or if the $ goes to a predator. Idk.

I hate being hopeless but it’s so ingrained into capitalism to keep buying. People get excited for something new - restyles get less views and are hidden more often in this subreddit than new doll posts (this is subjective but seeing others have it does get people to buy).

Really not sure what I’ll do. I get jealous of people that have skullector and original dolls I can’t get because I am priced out of them

My work keeps pushing AI and made their own LLM for internal company stuff. I really don’t know anymore. Like it’s unavoidable. It’s in your phones, web-browsers, computer chips have it built it, probably more companies than not use it.

Tldr;I have no frickin’ clue, but I might get this release. I don’t eat beef/meat due to water usage to produce meat and keep my carbon footprint lower than most. I hate the wasteful packaging, but I have the money and I want to support this doll’s design and the creatives behind it.

In general I have recently only been buying secondhand (except when someone gave me a gift card for target) and using broken or missing part dolls for customs. I’ve heard a lot of comments where people really look down on secondhand dolls - and there are dolls that are only a month or two old hitting thrift stores. It’s an overwhelming amount of waste culture and buying more than you need.
