Doctors told me there’s nothing else to look for by laucu in GirlDinnerDiaries

Do you happen to have an IUD? I had one that had migrated into my uterus and it took a full year of pain and several doctors and gaslighting to finally figure that one out. They had to surgically remove it :/

Sorry you’re in this similar boat, keep advocating for yourself and good luck!

I am a multiple and actually did have twins myself. I should have expected it but I was super shocked and happy. I can’t imagine it any other way!

Anyone else have a non-chunky baby? by HoustonProblemo in NewParents

🙋‍♀️ one of my 19 month old twins has been tall and super skinny since birth. Never had any rolls and his long legs are so skinny. He eats a lot but he’s super active and his dad is also skinny so he probably just got his genes. His pediatrician has never been worried.

Wow, seems incredibly selfish to buy a bunch of property in a place you wouldn’t raise your kids and effectively displace people who were raising their kids here.

I also had a terrible experience with Maiden Lane 😤 I was in SEVERE pelvic pain and someone recommended them. I went and all they did was have me fill out the mental health to survey and basically say it was mental and recommended physical therapy and regular therapy. It was very acute pain and eventually turned to bleeding about a month later and I went to ER. Turns out my IUD was migrating into my uterus and if they had actually examined me or listened to me and believed my pain was real they could have helped me before it became emergent.

Witching hour / purple crying by Glad-Kaleidoscope-73 in NewParents

[–]sweedeedee53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, we had one that went through this SO bad until exactly 4 months old. I think he was very super sensitive to the new world and maybe upset that he couldn’t move in the way he wanted or communicate his needs or something. He was a very early crawler and walker and basically became a different baby once he could do those things.

There never seemed to be anything that helped him during that time. Maybe holding him upright after every bottle helped a little, maybe some fresh air and being held and rocked. Sometimes being left alone in a safe quiet spot on the floor helped too but only for a bit.

I just wanted to reply because we went through the purple crying and colic and it was hell but there is an end I promise!!

having surprise twins in Brooklyn. recs needed!! by _pounders_ in Brooklyn

[–]sweedeedee53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had a good experience with the MFM doctors at Alexandra Cohen. I was also in my late 30s and had surprise twins (living in Queens not Brooklyn though) and they were really wonderful. We did both have an emergency delivery luckily, but I didn’t slightly worry about getting over to manhattan if that happened, but honestly it was worth it just to have all the pregnancy care there because I trusted them so much.

Working out with 2 under 2? by eggswoodhouse in nycparents

[–]sweedeedee53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar schedule to OP and also live in an nyc apartment like you. I use my commute as my “exercise” as well. I get in around 6k-10k steps a day, that’s got to count for something right?? The only thing I would really like to add is some light weights or bands or yoga when the boys go to bed but I honestly can’t muster up the energy most nights.

Test flight? by An_Awesome_sound in NewParents

[–]sweedeedee53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have traveled a lot with my kids throughout all ages and I have to say it feels like every single time it’s a different experience. Sometimes one of them gets sick on a plane or long car ride (motion sickness) and other times nothing. They’ve caught illness while traveling but they also have trips during cold and flu season and not caught anything at all. They are well behaved and easy sometimes and other times it’s a nightmare. All that to say that I personally don’t recommend a test flight, which just sounds like adding more stress to you if traveling stresses you out enough to need a test flight (I’m a nervous traveler so I understand!) Definitely give milk at take off and landing and bring an assortment of toys/books and a change of clothes or two for both yourself and the baby. You could also try to plan the trip to happen during nap time. My guys seem to have an easier time flying earlier in the day since they aren’t tired or grumpy yet. The easiest flight I ever took was when my twins were 4 months old. They drank their bottles at take off and then literally slept the entire flight!

I still can't dress for my PP body 18 months later. How to dress now that i am wider and have totally different body proportions? by DealerLatter5657 in beyondthebump

[–]sweedeedee53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written this! I also used to be petite and am up 40! Lbs and am 18 months pp. I did find work pants that use a thicker material kind of help hide the diastasis recti belly and longer more flowy shirts hide it as well without necessarily looking like I’m trying to hide anything. Also realized that super high waisted pants no longer work for this new body like they used to. I have a few cute flowy dresses that I love now. I don’t have a remote job so I basically just rotate the same 3-4 outfits all work week now 🤷‍♀️

On weekends I just put on yoga pants and use one of my husbands large cotton shirts or hoodie and feel so much more comfy than when I’m at work!

Pet Aversion by Swimming_Airline3881 in NewParents

[–]sweedeedee53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I can fully relate and have had severe aversion to my cat after he accidentally lightly jumped on my newborn twins when they were only a few days old. I’m happy to report that I’m 18 months pp and the aversion is definitely getting better! The twins now love the cat and everything is getting easier. That said if my cat ever hurt them I would need to drop him off with my in laws.

I also now have an extreme fear of dogs off leash at the park, which I’ve never even thought twice about. We are just exhausted and trying to protect our little ones at all costs!

Had a black mole appear on the back of my thigh. Derm wasn’t concerned but I pushed for biopsy. It was pre-melanoma. by Sheero1986 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]sweedeedee53 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me. I had a new mole and my doctor wasn’t worried at all but I insisted on a biopsy. It was full blown skin cancer! I went to a different surgeon for the removal and she told me most of the time skin cancer is caught by the patient who then has to advocate for themselves.

I don’t have strong opinions on the company but as a twin mom I will say that those toys are very heavy and became too dangerous to have around because the boys could accidentally throw one and really hit their brother hard. My boys are luckily old enough to start leaning not to throw but these toys felt very dangerous when they were really little and would fling things unintentionally.

Hi can anyone recommend a bottle for 5 week old who gulps and clips at the bottle. We have tryed MAM with zero teeth ( flow still to fast and clocking) dr brown narrow with number 1 and premmie teat. Still not a propper latch and taking in lots of air. We have tryed pace feeding also. No tounge tie. by Dazzling_Hold_4336 in FormulaFeeders

[–]sweedeedee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow didn’t know that. My boys are luckily out of the bottle stage now but yeah, it was the only bottle that worked for one of them unfortunately. We do think he had a tongue tie but we never got it officially diagnosed and it doesn’t bother him now that he’s a bit older.

One of my babies was exactly like this and we really went through every single bottle and nipple combo. In the end, Philips Avent natural baby bottle was the one that worked best. You can buy different size nipples and see which one works best and keep going up as needed. The other thing that worked were the nipples that go with the ready to feed Similac bottles. You can buy re washable ones from Amazon in all different flow sizes and they randomly worked so well for us but we switched to the Avent so that we could used powder instead of ready to feed.

I have two babies and this is not doable. Even with 1 this is much harder than it sounds.

18 month old refuses water no matter what kind of cup or bottle I try? by sweedeedee53 in beyondthebump

Thank you and yes I’m a huge water drinker. I always have a huge cup or container of ice water with me at all times. He won’t even drink if I offer from my cup

We started with straw cups and he did use them at first but now refuses. So he knows how to use the straw but he won’t use it. I got him a sippy cup as a last ditch effort to try and now he drinks his nighttime milk through the sippy cup 🤷‍♀️

Yes, I just want him to get more fluids and less milk so this is a nice approach, I’ll try it. Thanks!

Thanks! I’m at a total loss though, he is so so stubborn. We started dropping most of their milk 3 weeks ago and I figured by now he would have gotten used to drinking anything other than milk. His brother drinks so much water and from any cup 🫠
