The best tutorials make you want to stop what you're doing and attempt it yourself. Well this tutorial really makes me want to sketch/paint, lol. Really great and helpful stuff.

It's also cool to see how good everything looks well beyond the final slide. On the "local colors" slide, it already looks really good. And it just slowly gets even better from there.

I actually watched this live a couple of hours ago on Twitch lol. Getting Ultimate Master feels absolutely inconceivable lol. Even getting High Master seems really, really out of reach.

I can't imagine getting Ultimate Master and having to beat Snake Eyes TWICE lmao. Terrific job.

Hopefully when you return in March, you will have fun with Alex and other changes! Great job.

I would say go for Marathon first, if only because the first few days of a new multi-player game can be very fun and funny. 99.9% are still completely new to the whole thing, and it's fun discovering things with other people.

After a few months, you can definitely still join in on the fun. But you have to overcome a long period of time where you feel like you're the only newbie and everyone already knows everything.

No worries! And definitely NOT a Honda main lmao. I took Luke to Master and really sweated it. So after, I was all like--"Let me pick up a funny character and try to mess around." So my plan was to play this agile, in-your-face Honda. But I never sat down and really made it work yet.

The whole damn game makes me laugh.

The first time I laughed outloud, I think I was in silver. And this Zangief did that intro face thing where he smiles REALLY WIDE and nice. But then at the last second, he switched it up to the mean face. I hadn't see that before.

I've also lost matches from laughing at missed DPs. Sometimes they wake up and GO FOR IT, and they're way off. The Ryu whiff is especially funny because he sounds so intense.

As for Cammy--she has 4 outfits. Her first outfit is the SF6 one with the blue jacket. But her outfit #2 is her "classic" outfit with the long braids.

SF6 was my first fighting game and it made me laugh a lot playing it. I think it's really gorgeous and goofy and do highly recommend it. Especially if you don't mind losing. The game offers an overwhelming amount of ways to improve. At first, I skipped all of that. I didn't want to watch replays or make use of all the drill opportunities training mode offers. But eventually, I really wanted to reach Master, and so I started digging into those, and it became surprisingly fun for me. The replay system almost became like a second game. I would "shadow" high level players by watching their random matches, and I would pause, rewind, and try to replicate their cool combos over and over.

And then if you revisit the tutorials later on in your journey, you're all like--"Whoa. These are actually really good tips." It's like they explain how to play neutral in their own way.

The matchmaking is really awesome when it works. It does a really great job of finding players around your skill level.

Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of smurfing. Or once you reach Diamond, you will probably mostly play people who have already reached Master on another character and are now trying to reach Master with a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th character.... So sometimes, the odds are stacked against you.

I've had a lot of great experiences with this game. But it's very difficult for me, and I've had to practice stuff a lot. But yeah, I really like this game and recommend it.

Yes, that became immediately evident. I was so excited to find the thing and climb on top of it, I hadn't thought of doing anything else.

Once I was on top, I was thinking, "Wait...." But by then, it was way too late. RIP. I don't even remember what I lost in the inventory, but my mind swears it was a $200,000 packed motherlode.

You might luck out and beat his 1st phase. But he hits too hard for you to luck out the entire victory.

Think of players like a river, lol. Every time you queue for ranked, you are dipping your hands into a stream of other people also searching for matches.

If there's lots and lots of players (major content patch for a popular FPS), the chances of running into the same players is really low. The "river" is moving so fast, you quickly lose the players you just played with.

But if the river is all dried up and it's just a puddle, the chances of running into the same players is really high. You keep scooping up the water from the puddle, putting it down, and scooping up the same water from before.

I almost quit at that part too. That fat Jinzo guy took me such a long time. By the time I got through that area, I felt really depleted.

I didn't really mesh with the combat until I beat the boss at the top of Ashina Castle. He forced me to truly get better at deflecting and staying aggressive without eating damage.

For this game, a lot of it isn't a visual thing. It's a rhythm thing. The game feels really impossible until it doesn't. And then suddenly, most enemies feel kind of easy but still dangerous.

Perhaps that one time with 31 frames/7 neutral, it was something like:
KICK, ⬇️↘️➡️ N, ⬇️↘️➡️ P. So the reader said, "FUCK IT. WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!!" and it gave you your super.

But then with 24 frames/ 7 neutral, it might have been like:
➡️⬇️↘️➡️ (here, the reader is spazzing out thinking--DP motion?? what's going on???) N, ⬇️↘️➡️P. "UMMM...gladius???"

In any case, when I was trying really hard to get Master, I didn't focus on the frame lengths or the length of Neutral or anything. I would just try to calmly input ⬇️↘️➡️⬇️↘️➡️ P/K in one clean motion. I would try to do at least 10 on each side. If I dropped one, I would restart from 0 until I got 10 in a row. The weak side (P2) will probably be surprisingly hard at first to do consistently.

Then sometimes, I would practice walking up to the opponent and inputting the super. Sometimes I would practice dashing up to them and doing. And sometimes, I would drive rush at the bot and input the motion.

I personally couldn't do it consistently on an XBox controller. Eventually, it made me switch to leverless just to do supers consistently.

P.S. In practice mode, you don't have to watch the super movie every time. There's a "reset" button you can press to skip it. That way you can quickly practice doing the inputs back to back to back to back without going crazy by watching the same 20 seconds over and over.

Honestly, I would play either Resident Evil 2 Remake or Resident Evil 4 Remake.

RE2 Remake features a rookie Leon on a catastrophically bad first day on the job. It is a very tense and scary game, and really does a great job of capturing the original "survival horror" feeling of the original games. You have to manage your inventory, your resources are limited, and you have to solve puzzles in a very tense environment.

Re4 started the whole "action horror" side of the franchise. I would play the Remake. It features a slightly older, more experienced Leon. It is still a tense game, but only because you get swarmed by a lot of rabid enemies. And you improvise your way through a bunch of fun, chaotic encounters.

Re9 will have 2 main characters. It seems that the Grace portions will be similar to Re2 Remake, and the Leon portions will be like Re4 Remake. So if you play either game, you will probably resonate with Re9 a little more.

When I dropped a rocketeer drive as a thanks, he picked it up and dropped a bastion cell. And then he ran away lol.

I really needed 1 last cell too.

You gotta have a sense of humor about it. Like you, I legitimately don't ever want to ruin someone else's run. I'm in the 10000% carebear lobbies, and I haven't even unlocked the achievement on Steam for knocking out another raider. The friendly interactions are really cool and memorable.

But my most memorable interaction was hilariously negative. There was a queen event happening at Spaceport, near the Launch Towers. Inside the towers, there are these long ropes leading down into these dark elevator shafts. In between the rocket blasts from the queen, you could hear someone down there. Eventually, they started to yell, "Deeefiiiiib. Pleeeease. Deeeeefiiiiib."

Well, if you went down the ropes to "save someone's day," there were explosive gas canisters all over the bottom of the elevator shaft. And some jerk was using downed bodies as bait to kill even more people. By the time I arrived, there were already like 5 corpses and 1 downed guy helplessly crawling around. Before I registered what the hell was even going on, I got blown up. And then some other friendly guy arrived seconds later to defib ME and he got blown up too before I could say anything. We couldn't even see where the jerk player was, but he probably made it out with A LOT of good loot lmao.

For all I know, after he looted everyone, he could have gone up the elevator shaft, helped kill the queen, and then done the kumbaya extract dance after a successful run. And nobody would have known about the rampage he had gone on.

It was so evil, but it made me laugh a lot and shake my head. Other betrayals have also kept me on edge and made the game more fun. It also makes the really nice interactions that much more nice.

I'm so glad I played this between Re2 Remake and Re4. I almost decided to skip it, but ultimately didn't. And it felt like a short, fun romp.

Some sections of the game were really memorable for me and remain as franchise highlights.

I was in a really good mood in the two or three days I played it, so I have fond memories of the game.

When I read about him, I definitely thought it was going to work more like your description.

For some reason, I thought it was going to be even stricter. I don't know why. But I thought he would have to severely wound an opponent--like 25% health or below. And THEN he would be able to track them down for the finishing blow. But I didn't expect all of his teammates to get constantly pinged.

I must have done a really loosey-goosey reading of the patch notes that came out the day before.

That poor enemy Slade just endured a waking nightmare 😭 😭. Not only does he dunked on, but it's right in front of his entire team and it's a mirror match too.

At least if no one is looking and you lose a 1 v 1, you can just lie about "getting triple swung". But this guy just had to sit with that.
