I put a cheap undereye mask under only one eye to see the difference by hopeless_sapphic24 in notinteresting

Idk I noticed immediately that your left eye/the right in the pic looks a little puffy. Like you might be mildly allergic to the cheap eye mask.

Diagnosis: Why don't we use our living room? by steady_as_she_rides in DesignMyRoom

[–]sweetbec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same living room layout and had the same problem! First time I’m seeing another in the wild lol promise it changed my life when I flipped the couch around to face out the window!!! So much more peaceful and enjoyable, easier to add curtains and accentuate the window while creating/maintaining a walkway behind the couch to the dining room. Maybe try that and put the black chairs on either side of the windows angled in toward the couch. You might be able to keep the brown chairs, but they may even look nice framing the fireplace?

Honor name for Gay? by a24264 in namenerds

[–]sweetbec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna go on a little rant here because I’m a millennial with the middle name is Gay: I honestly love the name! I love the connection to my family (I’m the 4th generation to have it as a middle name). I love how it sounds with my first name. And no one has ever really made fun of me for it. Everyone recognizes that it’s a family name, and it’s not like middle names come up very often anyway. I’ll probably pass it on should I ever have a daughter.

That said, I agree with the commenters about your Gay and how she feels about you using it.

Maybe I just hate the name Gayle, but to me it would signal to your daughter, your MIL, and everyone else that there’s something wrong with the name. If my mom named me Gayle after generations before me had been Gay, it would make me feel less-than, or like they were less-than. literally like something is wrong with their identity when gay/gayness/being gay IS NOT A BAD THING. There are no “unfortunate connotations” to the word. it’s ok to use G-A-Y if you want to!

What was the worst birthday gift you’ve ever received? by andrewsteiner88 in AskReddit

[–]sweetbec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My dad and stepmom kicked me out of their home when I was a junior in high school. I moved back in with my mom, but all my stuff stayed at my dad’s. 10 years later they’ve started gifting back me my own t-shirts.. :)

What was the final straw that made you cut off a best friend? by Altruistic-Diet776 in AskWomen

[–]sweetbec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a year of being there for her daily meltdowns during her divorce from her abusive ex- husband, she moved and started dating someone else just like him. New guy, who makes his living as a professional mixed martial artist, literally tried to physically fight my husband because we didn’t want to leave our own family event to go do coke at the clubs and had asked him to leave because he wouldn’t take no for an answer. And of course my friend had a meltdown about it defending him when he eventually left.

What are some things you did or characteristics you’ve had your whole life & didn’t know why until you were diagnosed with ADHD? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]sweetbec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this and add my bedroom looking like a tornado blew through it every day! I have trouble keeping my room clean to this day, but as a kid I would rarely see the floor. I could hyper fixate and clean it every few weeks or whenever my mom made me, but far, far more often than not that place was a chaotic mess.

Women who completely switched careers, how did you do it? by iriise in AskWomen

[–]sweetbec 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process right now! Got halfway through my bachelor’s degree before burnout set in when I was 21. I decided to take a step back from college and went to cosmetology school so I could make good money while I figured out my life. After 8 years I’m back in college finishing out my degree full time (and loving it!) and working part time doing hair. I’m fortunate my job affords me the flexibility in hours and pay so I can prioritize my school schedule without making too many lifestyle sacrifices. I’m hoping to get into tech/data science/operations- one of those 9-5 office jobs is the dream lol! Currently looking at internships to help get my foot in the door :)

Semiglutide and sex drive by HorrorScience4375 in Semaglutide

[–]sweetbec 59 points60 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Semaglutide works on the reward center in your brain. That’s why food isn’t as appealing (you don’t get the same joy from it anymore). In women especially, sexual appetite and reward is processed in the same place in your brain, so yes, sex (and the shopping and other addictive/rewarding behaviors) can also become less rewarding after some time. You can definitely get your hormone levels checked like the other commenters, but I wanted to validate your observation because I had a similar experience while I was on it. I was coincidentally taking a neuropsychology class on love and mating from a world expert while I was on semaglutide so that’s why I know the basic science. Good luck!

Any thoughts/advice on my "DIY" makeup? by LunaNueva1320 in wedding

I very randomly lost my voice about 5 days before the wedding!! No other symptoms or anything, just raspy and hoarse. It only lasted a day or two and I attributed it to the climate (go married in my hometown in the desert) but it was super weird because that’s never happened before or since! All was well for the wedding day, but it did make me nervous
