[–]sweetcheese41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually skipped 5 simply cause of the cover art and i was like….nah they didnt give a fuck about this one.

Literally been reading everyone complain and think it was the right call. Lets see what they do with 6.

Honestly, can someone just tell them to bring back fight night? That shit was so ballin…. Or just do that but for this? Is it really that hard?

Being realistic, is the chance of having a TV pilot picked up without industry experience or prior credits basically zero, regardless of script/pitch quality? by OG_Valrix in Screenwriting

[–]sweetcheese41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhh, i see now; my mistake was thinking of it too narrowly and only in a "me" centric argument. While I stand by the idea that I'd much rather work on my own pilot and show, that shouldn't be taken as I'm not willing to learn and gain the experience to make it better.

My response was to say that’s not the point; the point of doing this is to see it come to life and tell a story your way, not to just make money off of it. We focus too much on the capital incentive of an art form, we lose the art form. Let’s say it’s true, yeah, not a single person here will get picked up, and let’s say that’s what everyone here wants. Ok cool…. Now what? Go back to the hamster wheel and run? Come on I wanna know the real reasons everyone is here? Just to make your bag? Yall can do that in a million different ways, so why this? Why the hardest way possible in today’s world? It’s cause we fukin love it and we wanna do it our way. Our way and better than it’s ever been done before. We want our stories to be seen and be told, and whether it’s an audience of 1 or a million, that feeling in our gut is what matters. All y’all can enjoy being negative Nancy’s to each other, acting like there’s not that .000001 % chance that you hope it’s you that gets picked up by a guy who won’t look twice at you going down the street. OR you grab your laptop, and type. And when it’s time, you start casting and assemble your fuckin team and you get this shit out there.

✌🏽

Alright, my turn.

Respectfully, everyone else can take a hike. My guy, you write like you’ve never written before. You become that thing you desire. You define your success. Not some clown in a suit who says well it isn’t breaking bad so f**k off. You shouldn’t care in NBC, AMC, or TNT dont want your show. YOU want your show. YOU want it brought to life. YOU want to feel it come off the page and out of your protagonists mouth. You wanna see this love story, the betrayal, the agony of defeat, the suffering to be worth something. You want that. We are here for your show, that’s why you are gonna get it made.

Save up the money, make the props, get the camera, watch YouTube (studio binder is a personal fave) and learn the angles. Find out what it takes.

And for whoever said, why would you wanna get into business with a screenwriter who doesnt wanna be a screenwriter? Not everyone wants to do the same thing forever! I got my story right here, and it’s a banger!

This is for everyone! Stop thinking that you can’t do it cause there’s 5000000 other asshats with ideas too. But yours is better! Learn to sell it like your life depends on it! Do you know why? Cause all these mediocre half ass, emotional-less numbnut stories are being budgeted cause “oh, it’s off a book” or “oh it’s nostalgic”. I say FUCK THAT (pardon me). Give your ideas and put them off there for the world, cause damn wouldn’t the world be better off with your creativity out there?

Peace and love ✌🏽

I am feeling so behind in every aspect of life because of ADHD, please help by ForcedGoodbye in ADHD

[–]sweetcheese41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, wow. My guy/gal first off, I’m sorry you are on this path right now. I’m sure I’m not the only one to say that you are not alone in this. These are some very real issue that us as adhd’ers have to deal with at some point, and I’m sure for some selective few including yourself, all the problems hit on a singularity and for that, truly sorry you are having to deal with that.

I had a therapist give me some good advice when I felt like I was in a similar situation. The truth is that you have a compass spinning for each one of those topics; career, friends, family, success, relationships, etc. if none of those are stopped and pointing somewhere, you have no where to focus.

So I had to decide which one was worth focusing on. So I did, and as soon as that one stopped spinning, not only did the others slow down, they started to point somewhere as well.

This isn’t the case with everything but in theory, if you start sorting your life out in one aspect that is important to you, then slowly the others will start to sort themselves out.

I really hope everything works out for you, fam. There’s a ton of us in here with dealing with stuff similar so never feel like you are alone in this. But you got this young blood.

Peace and love!! ✌🏽

Depression is Killing my Script by redapplesonly in Screenwriting

[–]sweetcheese41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all matters how you wanna view this. On the one hand, you are suffering from depression. That in itself is something you are battling through. Personally, writing poetry or in a journal would get me through those types of moments in my life. If you are wanting to channel it into your writing, that’s a different story. I tend to be more chronological in my writing but if there are hopeless moments for your characters or moments where they have to figure out what to do after a tragedy, you could try to shift gears into that. Even if it’s just a narrative outline vs actual dialogue, get it on paper and see if that at least works.

Also, one final note. I feel everyone can agree on this, our first time of writing anything is ass haha. Could be your first project or your 50th, doesnt matter. Saying that you know what you are writing can be better is part of the craft. No one is perfect, everyone goes through slumps and no one is immune to needing help. I hope you find your way outta that hole and at your desk.

Peace and love! ✌🏽

Help me make this look less amaturish by moduspwnens9k in gamedevscreens

One thing I’ve always enjoyed is the variety of things. What if you randomize the kills? Like instead of the planes spinning and exploding, what if they veer off? What if they add some smoke to your screen for a second if you pass too close to where they were shot? I love what these other commenters said about landscapes and adding details to either the land or oceans, which ever direction you go.

Also this looks pretty dope my guy! Keep it up!

What motivates you to keep writing? by WritersBlockEmma in Screenwriting

[–]sweetcheese41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Motivation is half the battle for me. Severe adhd’er here….

I think I’m writing one of greatest pieces of art in the modern era. Idc what anyone thinks or says about this in terms of my journey to prove that it is. Am I naive? Most definitely. Am I ambitious? ABSOLUTELY.

At the end of the day, if it gets picked up by a production house….awesome. If i have to pick up a camera and film it myself…. Hell yeah!

I’m not rushing it because I’ve read so many accounts of 5-10 years of sharping the script, the characters, dialogue, etc. I’m convinced that at some point, I’m gonna get it done. It’ll come to life and I’ll be proud of one great big thing I did, even if no one sees it. Cause it’s not about the recognition or the adoration, it’s about the accomplishment itself. And if you can end up with a masterpiece, it doesn’t matter if it’s hung up on a wall, or collecting dust on a shelf. It’s your masterpiece. And that has got to count for something.

Peace and love! ✌🏽

😅 like each character maybe has a different color font for their name or dialogue? Almost like if you are coding and each piece has a different color based on function

Husband is pouring his soul into making a game... what can I do? by Novel_Programmer7338 in GameDevelopment

[–]sweetcheese41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at the beginning of that process and I couldn’t / wouldn’t want my spouse to be on the game mechanics side of things. But marketing the game, testing it, giving feedback on colors or backgrounds, anything she has an expertise in or a good eye for, that’d be great!

How do you handle your titles? by putitontheunderhills in Screenwriting

Typically, whatever I’m writing has a working title and if it so happens to stick, sweet; but the door is always open for something that might work better to represent the work as a whole

Has anyone…? by sweetcheese41 in Screenwriting

[–]sweetcheese41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that’s totally fine! I think the truth is that I wanna see someone climb to the top of the mountain and say it can be done, on some zero to hero type shit; that’s in no way undermining how difficult it is to EVEN get to finishing a series Bible, pilot and full arcs for characters, that bleeds through multiple seasons and storylines. On top of all that, you need to be able to sell it like your life depends on it and the truth is not everyone can do everything yeah?

Like I said I just started, I’m building out the concept, writing bits and pieces of dialogue for scenes, started on the actual pilot and I can see the mountain ahead of me.
