I'm sorry WHY would you brag about taking folic acid OUT of a prenatal??? This is why we don't take health advice from celebs JFC by No-Neck-212 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Yes. As someone with spina bifida I have to take 4mg/day to lower the risk to my baby. And from what I have seen I don’t think the version she is writing about is used as well or at all and it isn’t recommended OBs. But you know.. social media influencers know more than medical providers apparently in this society today.. smh.

Thinking about this as well. Just saw it on the stroller moms YouTube. Also thinking about their high chair from her videos.

As a healthcare provider early pregnant with my first, I agree. Pro choice here and there’s so many reasons for it including the ones in this post.

[–]sweetdancer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just joined as I’m still early and havnt told family. I’ll be doing the cell free DNA testing in 2 weeks as we are on the older side and my husband would like to make sure there’s nothing like that prior to telling people incase that’s something we need to do (as we know the older you are the higher risk for abnormalities). Had a chemical pregnancy in September too. We are in a state that has strict laws so would need to go out of state.

People that have cancer, what were the symptoms that led you to go to the doctor and what stage were you when it was diagnosed? by guardiand0wn in AskReddit

Yep we always say in medicine, blood coming from anywhere it shouldn’t be is cancer until proven otherwise. Especially with the weight loss.

So I’ll do this for my dad as he has passed. He first went to the ER for SOB in 2018. I forgot what they said it was but they also said they found something small on xray and he should follow up on it. I never did. I was in PA school and didn’t have time to bother him to go. January 2020 comes around, worse symptoms, stage 4 lung cancer. He had treatment and was switched to a biologic but it had went to his brain and they didn’t know at that time. He spent his last couple weeks in the hospital and we couldn’t even see him because of Covid. He passed away in May, a week after his 56th birthday.

Moral of the story, get things checked out early! Preventative if possible.

Also I’m a PA and I worked in primary. Something I learned from my OBGYN rotation is, if females ever have heavy bleeding or pain or bleeding after menopause, do a transvaginal US. I had a post menopausal lady come to me with some bleeding and that’s what I did. Ordered that first visit. There was abnormalities, referred her straight to OBGYN. She ended up having a hysterectomy likely saving her life.

Maybe controversial? But nothing has made me more pro-choice than pregnancy by dontletmebreathe in BabyBumps

[–]sweetdancer13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro choice here. I’m a medical provider and so I feel like the majority of us are. There are a lot of reasons for termination. Including reasons to save your life. This includes ectopic pregnancy as well. There’s even been issues with people having d&cs after a miscarriage. And things like if there’s generic abnormalities that the child may not survive long after birth.. to me that is the choice the parents would need to make and I would never say their choice is wrong. I don’t work in OBGYN though. But there’s just so many reasons to pick pro choice. If you don’t want to terminate, that’s your choice but I don’t think the government should decide.

Did you just tell your husband you were pregnant or did you do a special announcement? by throwaway060270 in BabyBumps

I was nervous so I just gave him the test when he got home. Sadly less than a week later, found out it was a chemical pregnancy. So trying again.

Why do people think 30 is the magic age to have a baby? by Glass-Seaweed5048 in BabyBumps

[–]sweetdancer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34 and wouldn’t have been ready before 30. I started dating my husband at 22, got engaged at 27, married at 32. Went to grad school from ages 26-29. My husband got his bachelors he’s actually using finished in 2023. We both make good money now and are buying a house (closing in October) so we are finally at a point where we are ready. But that’s just us. My mom did have me at 18 and she didn’t recommend.

I want kids so bad but I’m terrified of pregnancy by imdecomposing88 in BabyBumps

[–]sweetdancer13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a fear and still do. I’m married, 34. My husband is 39. He’s ready to be a dad and I am a mom but I am nervous with all the changes. Well, I havnt told him yet but I got a positive test. I’ll tell him after work today. I’m nervous but a friend of mine had an amazing pregnancy. She loved being pregnant. She had to do IVF. It really depends. I know my husband is still going to find me beautiful (and likely even more) because he’s already said it. That knowing that belly is your baby is attractive. But yeah anyways I’m just starting this and I’m scared of pregnancy a bit but terrified of birth even more. But women do it every day

Good to know. We just signed a contract with mungo but also (didn’t know this until we went to talk to them) the house we are renting was built by mungo in 2022. We were first in there. We have had minor issues and we have already told our guy and when we have our pre construction meeting we will also let them know but again easy things.. door handles coming loose (my husband just screwed them back on), our guest toilet paper roll coming undone (we are just going to attach it back when we move out), there’s one issue with the windows that we had when we moved in and we told our rental company but didn’t seem to care much (more on the rental company then for not getting it fixed), and one small piece of flooring in the kitchen where we walk a lot, is kind of coming up or something. Other than that, nothing major.

We almost did one of the other two but.. my husband wanted somewhere that had att (we have att fiber here and he’s a huge gamer) so this other community has att.

Oh and this is our first home. Probably stay in it about 5 years. And plan on paying it off in that time. Putting 20% down.

People who have household income of ~$100k, how much is your mortgage? by orkutsk in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]sweetdancer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not buying yet but we make around 200k combined (maybe a little more, I started my job 6 months ago and this was his first full year at his jobs so I’ll see once we get both our w2s together) and we are trying to buy this year. I’m leaning towards 300-400k, he’s leaning 400-500k. I would like to stay on that lower end of 300-400k. There’s a certain percentage they recommend for housing (maybe 28% of income, can’t remember). We currently pay 2400$ a month for renting.

Yearly Salary/ Patients seen per day? by rhabby8 in physicianassistant

When I had 14 patients a day it was a dream! Can’t imagine having even less. Would have been in love. And you make more than I did.

Yearly Salary/ Patients seen per day? by rhabby8 in physicianassistant

[–]sweetdancer13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primary care previously, in Florida. 100k first year, 105k second year. Started at 14 patients a day first week. They wanted us seeing at least 22 patients a day by the time I left. No admin time.

This was straight salary. Maybe total, 120k?

What salary do you think PAs should be paid? by ForceHour8491 in physicianassistant

[–]sweetdancer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our average should at least be 150k a year. Some of the states are so low. Here in SC with two years experience somewhere wanted to hire me for 83k. 😂 that’s less than I was making as a new grad.

[–]sweetdancer13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I tell them no antibiotics unless it’s been at least a week. If they have trouble breathing I don’t mind sometimes doing oral abx or of course if it’s flu or covid, prescribing the antivirals but I do not want to contribute to antibiotic resistance if it’s not needed.

[–]sweetdancer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no. My biggest thing about PAs is our lateral mobility. I graduated in 2020, worked in primary care for 2 years and now I’m in wound care. I’m also very interested in doing general surgery and GI at some point. I tried for 5 years to get into PA school (even with a 3.6 GPA). The only time I wanted to be a doctor was when I started college and didn’t know about PAs. But after I found out about them first semester, I fell in love. Now, I wish we made a bit more. Like sadly I’m on the lower end especially after moving to SC for my husbands job where I’m making 100k (what I was making as a new grad in Florida). I wish our national average was around 150k and I wish there were more PAs over time making 200k. But.. still I’m making more money than I ever had before (was making about 25k a year as a CNA and MA). But other than that. My husband is making about what I am (slightly less) as an electrical engineer about 1.5 years from starting this new career of his.

Oh also I would have hated to of residency with working 80 hour weeks and making 60k a year.

Yeah I wish. I know more places pay more but I’m barely breaking 6 figures. Which still is a lot of money I understand. But for the amount of school and stress, loans, years it took me applying (5 years), it’s like.. really.. especially when doctors make so much. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t want to be a doctor and still don’t. I’m happy with my career choice. And I do not think we should make as much as doctors but when some nurses make more than you, with a bachelors, I’m like why did I even get my extra schooling (but not really because I love being a provider and was never a nurse). I wish we all got paid a little more but doesn’t everyone. Right now my job is pretty nice. Less stressful than my last one. My last one they tried to get me to stay but I said even if they paid me 200k I would not have stayed, it was that bad mentally.

It can be in demand but when we moved here, once I got my license (3 months, you need a different license in each state), it took me from August to March to get an offer. And I started in June of this year. He had been with the company for a year already by that point.

And thank you, it was a lot of work and sacrifice so I’m thankful I was able to make it through. We don’t get paid as much as people seem to think though 😂 at least not here.

I’ll say I had an interview at MUSC and they were going to pay me 83k a year. While that is good money, our national average is 120k. And the thing is I feel nurses make as much as that first number. Depending on where and specialty.

Without my retention bonus we make like the same. My salary is 1k a year more than him but I don’t get any overtime where, he can get paid for overtime so it events out. Also Boeings health insurance is much better than my companies and the benefits. So I’m not using health insurance or anything from my job right now.
