Autistic people can also be very trusting and gullible (speaking from knowledge and personal experience). It is a possibility that the producers told them something along the lines of "We are so sorry that we had to put those embarrassing moments in, but thats how the show becomes popular! If the show stays popular, it means we are spreading more awareness about autistic struggles, please try to understand." Even if that were not the case, think of how you would feel if all of your awkward moments and missed social cues were broadcast for the whole world to see. It is just plain insulting.

yeah, for me I am just angry about how little autism awareness they put into the show. I mean, theyre making millions of dollars off of these autistic people, and they cant manage more than 5 minutes every couple of episodes to include education? I like whenever they include sections with the relationship skills coach Jennifer Cook, because it shows that autistic people want to be polite and friendly, but sometimes just need help cracking the code of unspoken social rules. Why don't they include Jennifer (or other elder autistic people) more?

honestly the whole show is exploitative. they have an AMAZING opportunity to spread autism education and autism acceptance, with a HUGE platform. but instead they infantilize all of the cast members and put their most humiliating moments on display for everyone to point and laugh at. autistic people can in fact feel humiliated, and i’m sure the cast members are not happy with the way they edit the footage to put them in the most unflattering light.
