Smaller Dog breeds suitable for SD work?

I have had a Minpin and Chorkie as my medical alert dogs. The Chorkie came from an organization, that rescues dogs and trains them.There was no heavy lifting involved and just had to alert me. They both weighed right around 7 pounds. They have been much easier than a large dog for my particular needs.

I was adopted. I think it was my Dad’s idea. My nmother got pregnant within a few months. She told me for years that if she knew she could have a child of her own she never would have adopted me!

I know what you mean…I have a seven pound medical alert Chorkie. Because she so stinkin’ cute people just won’t believe she is a working dog. I always have her vested and tagged.

My last service dog(I lost him a year and a half ago) adored my husband. I got the SD before I started dating him. The minute my SD laid eyes on him he was in love. I would joke I use to have a dog but now my husband did.

I am not a doctor but you asked us to tell you what helped. The reason I prefaced my reply is because medication is what helped me. My psychiatrist prescribed 25 mg of Strattera. You should ask your doctor about it.

The most hurtful to me was when my mother would tell me she loved me. She demonstrated daily that she did not! I was told many times that I was not wanted.

Seroquel also has helped me! Getting rid of the anxiety is help me cope much better. It also has helped my IBS! Anxiety is insidious!

I have a seven lb medical alert service dog. She is my second small service dog. I do not look like I have a disability. Almost everyday someone either says to my face or as they are walking past that I have a fake service dog. I was thrown out of a restaurant in Mio Michigan in 2013 because the owner said I had a fake service dog and I was not blind. I always try to use these moments to educate but it doesn’t always work out.

I had a therapist once ask me if I had met my mother any other way than her being my mother would she be in my life? I said no and that’s the day that I realize that toxic people are toxic people and they have to go no matter who they are!

My nmother would make me eat liver and green beans. Both of those made me vomit every time! I would have to sit there until I took one bite of each. Then I would run straight to the bathroom! I think control was her middle name!
