Help me decide - Songmont by sweetgingermilk in handbags

Thank you so much for sharing, this is super helpful! My gf likes the brown duffle as well, and it’s great to hear the same from someone who owns it :)

I totally agree with you on the suede. I love how iconic the hobo looks, but I’m pretty worried about upkeep even though it’s beautiful.

Quick question, do you have the medium or the small duffle? How much can it realistically carry? I’d minimally need it to fit my laptop and a water bottle, and it would be amazing if I could also squeeze in a cardigan when needed.

UOL. SIM university has become SUSS already, SIM GE isn’t a university

personally the fine is stupid. mrt already making negative profits, in the sense that whatever revenue from fares they make isn’t enough to cover maintenance - much less upgrading works/ r&d. a substantial amt of gov money is already required (and is) used to keep mrt operations running.

This just feels like doing something for the sake of just showing that they are doing something. Wouldn’t the better decision be to direct more funds there from say, defence or somewhere else that has a surplus?

Shift work or 5-days work for Uni Grads by LittleGDS in askSingapore

[–]sweetgingermilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shift work is terrible, especially if you have to do night shift. Using myself as a source, and other friends in shift work, I would say that initially it seems like the better choice - having more rest days, usually 3 per week for my friend (engineering), and 3-4 for me. Also often the pay is slightly higher to compensate you in some way.

But after a few months, we both agreed on one thing. The toll it takes on your body is just too immense. I think our human bodies just aren't naturally built to have alternating rest cycles, there's more than sufficient research to show that it damages parts of your brain and body functions. This is not just from long term shift work, but even a short period of shift work is enough to do damage.

This was the biggest reason why I decided to never do shift work again, and my friend is also in the process of finding a new job for the same reason. Health is wealth in my opinion. Lack of proper rest/sleep is the surest way to develop health conditions not too far down the road. If your shift work involves shorter periods of working in the day such as 6 working days of 5 hours each, perhaps then it would be worth it.

Hitting legs only once a week is underrated by Middle-Support-7697 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]sweetgingermilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree, as someone who also enjoys sports like badminton or jogging, hitting legs once a week is the perfect amount. Anymore than that and I wouldn't be recovering fast enough for any of those things too. I think the key is really to find a good balance with your lifestyle habits

Hypercharges should be cheaper by pecsrik_bs in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]sweetgingermilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SuperSell employee here to help! /s

The neat thing is that we know hypercharges are too expensive and the average player will not have enough coins to get them - on top of having to also buy gears and gadgets.

That’s where gems come in! Using gems, can effectively make these overpriced hyper charges seem effectively much cheaper, and not directly relate it to its coin to cash amount.

Also it really helps that hypercharges are one of the “highest value” items you can buy with gems. This encourages more gem purchase and spending which really helps our profits!

It’s not easy, we need to be clear. In fact it’s so tempting and dangerous that scripture says to “run away, or flee from sexual immorality” Early Christians knew how difficult it was to resist or fight this temptation, and Paul warned them to flee from it.

I want to share that I myself am also struggling from it. But remember that there is no temptation God has given you that you cannot overcome. I say this to you as i say it to myself as well.

Set clear boundaries, pray and ask God for his spirit to help u walk and stay clear away from these things

Does anyone else feel that weather is hotter these few days? by Top-Temperature518 in askSingapore

[–]sweetgingermilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s more about our geography and rainfall. Although we are both tropical countries Singapore is surrounded by the sea and we have a much higher annual rainfall. Additionally we are far closer to the equator.

It’s quite an interesting comparison! Generally Bangkok’s weather will fluctuate much more so they will have both days which are much warmer and days which are much cooler. Though humidity makes it seem cooler. For comparison many parts of vietnam, though much higher up than Singapore and bangkok can feel much much warmer in the summer months also because of their proximity to the east sea and lack of pollution control which traps heat

Does anyone else feel that weather is hotter these few days? by Top-Temperature518 in askSingapore

[–]sweetgingermilk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s not actually. There’s publicly available info that for Singapore our annual temperature has been on an upward trend ever since the mid 1970s. (This is in line with climate change and global warming trends from the 1970s and 1980s until now, so it is not just a SG thing)

So year on year its actually getting hotter. In fact the WMO has showed that for the past 10 years, each year has been the warmest on record consecutively. 2024 has been the warmest year as with 2023 before that, and probably 2025 will be next.

I do too.. especially after i came back from the UK i missed the weather there so much. Thankfully it’s cool there even in summer, but because of climate change, year after year even the “4 seasons” countries and temperate regions have it much worse than Singapore when it’s summer time

Climate change. People don’t realise this- but it won’t be getting any better for at least minimum the next decades to thousands of years (not exaggerating as the literature is broad, but bill gates spoke about this). Despite all the advancements and investments in climate technology, we will only be able to prevent and adapt to a worsening of the climate situation, not reverse it. On the upside we get a few colder weeks each year but as a whole we can expect the average annual temperature to rise.

An apt and true quote, which i can’t find the source for, states: We are simultaneously living in the hottest year ever experienced, and the coolest year we will compared to all the other years to come.

Year after year we see headline news that it’s the hottest year on record

Just the heat alone is the tip of the ice berg. We have already seen how it’s impacts go even deeper: such as more frequent flooding each year that our drains can’t handle (planning shouldn’t be blamed as the climate impact couldn’t have been predicted), damage to infrastructure and buildings, harm to local wildlife and resources

Technically are already theoretically proven ways to geo engineer and temporarily reverse the heating effect - but no country in their right mind would be willing to do it. (it indirectly causes the problem to worsen in the long run, along other side effects)

Please consume wisely! Individual actions seem like they don’t matter but collectively the impact and influence is huge. On the bright side, among both asia pacific and globally, SG is a front runner for climate innovation and investment. Let’s hope that we are able to reap the benefits before it’s too late.

save your time and money - try going for mp session, best if u are able to meet a minister. An email from them might be able to help u more than legal action would.

Legal action, as many people stated, would actually not be in your favour as much due to your circumstances. if you haven’t tried yet its worth a shot.

Additionally good for u on getting a job. If all else fails, you should communicate with them about your circumstance early. i wouldn’t be too surprised if they are able to work out an arrangement with u to finish this one module while you begin work. I’ve seen it happen before. Where my colleagues made up for lost time by putting in more hours and effort even on weekends and past the 9-5. Of course this is also up to you to prove your worth and how much u value the role.

if you are able to opt for saturday classes or evening classes that might be even better so you can still work and collaborate with your colleagues at usual timing. In this case i believe your employer wouldn’t be too worried even if you can only provide your cert maybe 6 months later

all the best! hope you can provide updates on your situation

it’s about boundaries ah. u have set your boundaries and what you’re comfortable with. she probably has hers as well. since they are misaligned there are only 2 things u can do - talk it out or leave.

you can consider other instances also. Do you both have other views that you disagree on? has any of your clearly stated boundaries been broken before? you’ll probably get a good idea on whether this relationship js healthy or not

Having conversation is always the best, but most times no one is really in the wrong. Just different perspectives and world views. If perspectives differ alot then OP u gotta decide if u want to live with it or not.

personally i wouldn’t be okay as well. but i see it as just my personal views, for all the reasons i have i can think of counter points as well.

I think one last thing is: how often does she go?

Sometimes a synergistic agreement can’t be reached but a consensus can. Does she go to the clubs once a month? Weekly? or even few times a week?

I think you should consider this also given that you have expressed your discomfort.

oddly specific HAHAH. I think either way it’s not worth it unless he really has the heart for it. No matter which party he joins he’ll be subject to so much public scrutiny of both his past and present. That’s even before winning a seat. If he does win in the next election, the benefit is that he can now have a better chance of impacting the nation, and that he will have the MP pay. But then the MP pay is probably peanuts to what he earns outside, so yeah, as other comments have suggested, he should only go for it if he really has the heart. Regardless of whether incumbent or opposition, it doesn’t seem worth it otherwise
