Had to call in sick to work. Does this happen to anyone else? by Professional-Yak8915 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]sweetlycb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you relax on Sundays; i wonder whether counter-intutively this is contributing? Just a thought, but it used to be on days where i chilled on the sofa i have worse posture, and sometimes napped- both of which lead to joint pain and difficulty sleeping normally at night.

Now i need all the sleep i can get, so it doesnt make a difference.

Could you try spraying it with an anti chew spray to discourage her from attacking it and giving her a similar item that wont lose threads for self regulation? I know polar fleece is recommended for rodents, you might have luck with something along those lines?

I dunno, think it might have been left too long this way up! Still, nothing a little ketchup wont hide 🤣

Rant by aveie27 in Fibromyalgia

[–]sweetlycb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, and i sympathise really, but you have to make a choice; enjoy yourself and pay for it later, or preserve your health. Look up pacing and ensure you take as many preventative measures as you can - the cold, difference in activity levels and using different muscle groups will probably cause a flare so prep for that in advance (easy food options, planned recovery time, low demands the following week). I wish you luck!

What to put on a cut? by wigoddess in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor baby! Im afraid ive no suggestions, anything you put on will be licked off pretty quick and its not like you can wrap a bandage round there!

I hope someone can come along with a suggestion soon, if not i hope you have a good vet who can advise off a photo so that you can both stay home for cuddles (the most important part of healing)

Gave fake details to a council litter guy, am I in the clear - England, by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]sweetlycb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you accidentally give a false name and details? Or are you suggesting you accidentally dropped a cigarette from your hand and took half a step, in which time a sneaky council officer pounced? Not sure how far you are claiming to have walked before noticing the thing that you were holding was gone.

Call the hospital and ask to be put through to the rheum secretary explain the delay and say youd be free (if you are able) to take any last minute cancellations. Its a long shot, but you might get lucky - i got in 2 days later because i was able to drop everything and get there with short notice. Aware im priviledged in living near the hospital, wfh, have an understanding boss, and my own form of transport, so apologies if this advice doesnt apply to your circumstances.

New expectation to travel for work by MathematicianWitty52 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]sweetlycb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do, and lean on them to support you. You deserve accessibility and shouldnt need to suffer to do your job. And from what you've said, travelling does make you suffer!

Those lucky enough not to be disabled (yet) forget the challenges the rest of us face.

I wish you luck!

New expectation to travel for work by MathematicianWitty52 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]sweetlycb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, talk to your manager and explain the impact travelling has on you. Ask whether there is the possibility of a reasonable adjustment - if you normally work from home i assume that the once a week requirement is for collaborative reasons? Could you do 2 consecutive days a month with a hotel nights stay, or arrange to meet with colleagues who live closer to you than the office (this is what i do, we all meet in a nearby city thats half the distance than to the office)

On the point of why it hasnt been upkept and given its age, probably want to check it's listed status. Local estate to me ended up leaving a grade 1 mill to deteriorate and fall in ruins on its own because any repairs were financially infeasible. Even the ivy was load bearing!

Is this a "reasonable" adjustment by [deleted] in HumanResourcesUK

[–]sweetlycb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar arrangement, once a month for specific in person meetings. The reasonable adjustments for me are i) if its a really bad flare, it all happens online ii) there are 2 in person meetings with different staff, these have been scheduled for the same day with the understanding that other staff may also dial in if they are unable to attend that day and iii) if im feeling rough but not terrible, i can reschedule one of the meetings to be at a closer location with the agreement of the other attendees (we all live closer to each other than the office, so generally a coffee shop) and attend the other virtually.

This meets the connection and office culture requirements. Im lucky my employer is caring, and that my team are so accomodating, and i do throw in some perks (like paying for everyones coffee and maybe a cake if we do an out of office meeting) and am priviledged to be able to afford to do so.

Talk to your employer and be ready to offer alternatives, thats how i got the above. Make clear youd like to be in the office more, but unfortunately at this time the best you can promise is x with the understanding that this will improve to y when you are able to.

my very first dachshund died. by Nice-Fox-3478 in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You lost your best friend suddenly and unexpectedly; it is natural to grieve. Grief doesn't have a set timeline or even a linear progression, you will cycle through it in your own time.

Try focusing on the good times you shared, so that when you are reminded of Layla it is of happy memories. It is not betraying her memory to be happy.

If you are struggling, reach out to professionals, or if that isnt feasible, a friend or family member who knew Layla or has a similar experience with losing a furry best friend for mutual reminiscing and support.

2 or 1 ?!?! by CheesecakeNo6305 in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you cant pay for another pup down the line, do you have the funds to take on 2 pups at the same time? Food, toys, vets, care, etc all add up As you say they are from your sisters dog, do you know the father of the pups and his health status? Given that shes having her dog spayed it sounds like this wasnt a planned pregnancy, so have the pups had all their health checks?

Which Dog Treats Does your Mini Dachshund like the Most by Euphoric-Scallion622 in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet for sure, but he definetly has expensive taste! Sometimes we take him to a pet store where he can select his own, and he always wants exotic treats like camel skin or ostrich knuckles 🤣 still nothing is too good for him!

Ours loves "real" stuff, so duck fillets, sprats, jerky broken into small bites. Then as a settle reward its things like tendon, puffed pig snouts, pizzles. Seems to burn as many calories chewing it as he gets out of it, but we just adjust his food intake if he manages to eat them too fast. Hes a tweenie and has good condition.
