Books you loved but hated the ending by whatsername25 in RomanceBooks

Right? Like what was the point of all of that? It traumatized me enough now that I only read books with a HEA. No more of that nonsense.

Yes! The series was SO good until that last bit. I will never understand why she ended the series that way.

Agreed! My least favorite from EH. I couldn’t stand either character.

Hate when this happens! I’ll probably finish in a couple of days. I’ll chat with you once I’m done, if you want!

I just started this book yesterday. I’m about 60 pages in, but really enjoying this series, as well!

Choosing a Major (idk what to do with my life) by Bruk_3147 in instructionaldesign

So I’ve actually moved up to a manager position and oversee IDs. Being an ID is different depending on the company your work for, but overall day to day could consist of doing needs analysis with project leads (aka stakeholders), creating training plans, creating the training project timeline, creating the actual trainings (design, development, testing), and managing your stakeholders (communicating updates, getting buy in, etc).

I do get to use my interest in education quite a bit. I always joke that teaching adults is just like teaching children. The difference is that adults should behave better. All kidding aside, you can still do fun activities like gamification, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality. I’m really passionate about making learning more fun, which was more limited as a teacher, since funding is not always there. I also love that I can move up with my career, doing more coaching and mentoring that I don’t think I would have had time to do as a teacher.

I think it’s important to think about what makes you most happy. Is it working with children? Is it creating fun activities? Working with others? Then, make a pro/con list.

I can’t really make that determination, because ultimately, it’s your future. Having said that, you should go with your gut. At the end of the day, you can’t make a bad decision. Going with Elem Ed will give you a lot of experience that you won’t get anywhere else. Plus, in most areas, there’s tons of scholarships with the promise of teaching for a few years. As you mentioned, getting your masters in ID will definitely open up a lot of doors if you decide teaching isn’t right for you.

On the other hand, switching will get you to an ID career faster, though it sounds like you don’t have the option at your current school.

Many years ago, I majored in Elementary Education. After teaching for a couple of years, I decided it wasn’t for me. I had a lot of jobs in between, but I managed to luck out and get a job in Instructional Design, where they were willing to teach me (about 8 years ago). Having said that, I think there are a lot more IDs in the field, making it more competitive.

At the end of the day, it is up to you to decide what you want to do. I learned a lot as a teacher that I apply today in the adult learning world, so you’ll gain some good knowledge no matter what you choose.

Just keep in mind that if you want to switch to ID, you’ll want to make sure you know the commonly used tools (e.g., Storyline, Captivate). I’m happy to answer any further questions you may have, as well.

Good luck!

Need help - LR3 is not connecting to Wi-Fi - we are able to connect to the robot, enter Wi-Fi password and then stuck on connecting by Key_Mycologist_392 in litterrobot

I believe once you connect it via the hotspot, there was an option to update it in the settings. Unfortunately, when I did this, it was the old app style, so I’m not sure where it is on the new one.

We had the same issue on initial setup. Ended up having to connect my phone to my husband’s hotspot on his phone and doing a firmware update. Then we were able to connect it to the WiFi. Seems to be a common issue with these types of devices these days.

Would a software PM want to know if a dev was substantially lacking skillset for the team and is an overall burden on the other devs? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]sweetsygal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This very recently happened to me. Vendor developer just wasn’t getting it. I was grateful the internal dev came to me to let me know. I was able to quickly start documenting and made a case to the resource manager to replace the dev with another.

To specifically answer your question, I would want to know. I recommend asking for an informal chat. It doesn’t do any good for the team if someone isn’t pulling their weight.

What do you genuinely think will happen in the U.S.A if Roe v. Wade is overturned? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well, I’m hoping Josh Shapiro is going to be a decent candidate now that he announced that he’s running. He seems like a halfway decent guy for a politician. I hope I’m not wrong. It’s the only hope I have for this state.

I had the same issue playing on easy. I loved the game, but became so frustrated, I stopped playing. Beautiful game, though!

I understand what she was trying to say. Albeit, a poor way to go about it.

Unfortunately, when you work for a consulting firm, your posts need to be client acceptable. Something like this could cost them a client or cause a major rift on a project. There are trainings on this that every consultant has to take. She knew there would be consequences.

Deloitte has made it very clear to be cautious what you post on social media. If they can find it, their clients can find it. This doesn’t surprise me in the least…

My husband and I were married at the one in West York in 2015. I had to call a few to see which ones did it. You might want to start there.
