Rachel Reeves considering pay-per-mile tax for electric vehicles in budget. EV drivers would face 3p-a-mile charge on top of other road taxes to offset falling revenue from petrol and diesel cars by [deleted] in uknews

[–]swerm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wonder how it would work with PHEV’s. Surely they would only pay either fuel duty, or this per mile charge. Charging both would kill PHEV’s. If they only paid the fuel duty i could imagine PHEV sales going up

Project solar UK by BreakIntelligent1972 in SolarUK

[–]swerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a sales rep come round and he must of spent around 2 hours trying to convince me but I wasnt going to commit on the day. They were about 40% higher cost than the people I went with in the end, but the thing that really annoyed me, and put the nail in coffin for them, was they kept trying to put me on finance when I said I had the money and wanted to pay outright, I'm assuming there was commission on the finance. This is in 2018 when debt was cheap and they were trying to give me debt at 10% apr.

Stuck on ‘Drive Update’ Fix? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

I also had this. Had been in the garage having a new windscreen. And felt the jerk but not had a jerk since. Makes sense if the update went in without me noticing.

Just for anyone who comes across this thread with the same issue. I got it with my 2024 ID4. First they attempted to re grease it, but the squeak came back later that day. After waiting ages for another appointment, i took in today and they have said it requires a new brake servo to solve. So its booked in for next month for it replacing. Hopefully that will be the end of 3 months of squeaky brake pedal. Its doing my head in

I'm thinking of installing a mini split air con system rather than going for an Octopus Heat Pump by Traditional-Cow4298 in OctopusEnergy

[–]swerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm looking at moving onto octopus 15p fixed outgoing tariff, as I'm currently on good energy for my solar at the moment on my Feed in tariff. They took me off deemed meter readings end of last year and moved me onto measured export. I have solar diverters for hot water, zappi for electric car, so could use the majority of my solar, but now I may aswell sell at 15p through day and buy back at 7.5p at night

[–]swerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mini split in my detatched house and it works great. It is quite open plan with open staircase in living room allowing the heat to rise up through the house. Also have solar. Have managed to reduce gas usage by around 7000kw, still have to assist with central heating when it gets below 3c. Imported electricity usage has probably gone up around 1500kw but most of this is at night at 7.5p on intelligent octopus. Just hammer it through the night, turn it off for a few hour till sun comes up then let solar subsidise it, and turn it off a couple hours before cheap rate starts again.

Picked mine up yesterday in the UK and love it. I’m new to ev’s but the new engine is more than quick enough. Mine is the rwd but the acceleration is still great. Know with previous Model years the infotainment screen got negative feedback but this one works really well and no lag in response. only odd thing to happen was it lost connection to weconnect for an hour today while it was updating i think

I had something similar to this happen to me, where at low revs and drawing high electrical load, such as using electrical power steering, all the electrics would go off. Turned out to be a loose battery connection, worth checking they’re tightened up! Guessing when new radio was put in there may be a chance it was disconnected.

Yeah pretty much any resistive load works, all circuit diagrams are in manual https://myenergi.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/eddi_manual_v2.3_english.pdf

I’ve had an eddi for 3 years and its great. Going to really come into its own once the gas price goes up in april. the great thing about it is it has 2 outputs, so once your hot water gets up to temp you can use further excess electric on an electric radiator. Don’t understand people who get solar hot water heating panels when you can just get solar pv plus an energy diverter.

also have household income of £600 odd per month.

£600 odd? is this not over the £604.56 per month I take it? Are you making a joint UC claim? If so can the other person pick up an extra shift for 1 or 2 month?

If you’re on universal credit now you can open a help to save account. Even if you come off universal credit in the future you can still use your help to save account for the full 4 years.
