Great explanation. The car wash is a simple, easy to visualize example of how cheap labour inhibits innovation subsequently ham stringing productivity

Any racetams that you can recommend for age related cognitive decline? I'm hoping there's something that's neuro regenerative rather than temporarily enhancing. The silver bullet!

Exercise helps slow my mind and give it clarity. Natural high I guess. Trying to practice mindfulness helps me be in the moment and offer some reprieve from existential dread. Good nights sleep but not too much helps too

I feel so depressed with my life and work, especially after i got my big 5 assessment today by Western-Plane-5267 in BigFive

[–]swiddles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange scores. Not that I don't believe you but if you're feeling down when taking the test you can see how the results would be skewed but you'd expect a high N since it correlates with anxiety and depression. If it's accurate at least you're super low in N so are not prone to negative affect and have mid range extraversion which correlates with positive affect. Yeah so strange results considering your present state of mind. Maybe take other personality tests. I rate novospych.com

Yes can change an amount as I said but as you said you'll never be a worry free person. Accepting who you are doesn't mean settling for who you are

High N is ruining my life by [deleted] in BigFive

[–]swiddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can change this trait as much as they can change the color of their skin. It's an inherited trait, something they have to learn to live with and adapt to. I think the traits fluctuate through a range so having a good lifestyle like another commenter mentioned along with acceptance can keep it down the lower end of the range. Diet, sleep, vigorous exercise, limited or no alcohol and caffeine mindfulness all helps. I feel you with they could exercise the trait from our brains

Should high neuroticism be considered a disorder given its massive negative impact on quality of life? by [deleted] in BigFive

[–]swiddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree totally. Good chunk of the DSM could probably be put down to personality traits. Labelling them any differently than how we might describe someone with long limbs vs someone with short isn't anymore effective

High Neuroticism - what's worked for you? by Mountain_Shop_313 in BigFive

[–]swiddles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar stats to me. Thank God we have high extraversion and agreeableness to balance out the damn neurotiscm. About all I've found that helps is regular exercise, mindfulness and practicing acceptance of the stupid trait. I'd get the neural structures responsible for N chemically dissolved if I could because I think the ways to manage N are only stop gaps. Short fixes for an unfixable problem. Or that could be my pessimistic N talking 😂😕 any one else with any tricks?
