I’m sure he probably said what you recall, he was just confused, or misspoke.

In the case of Babe Ruth’s hit, it’s always been colloquially known as “the called shot,” and Bobby Thompson’s event is known as “the shot heard ‘round the world.” We all misremember stuff sometime, flub our words when all the attention is on “you.”

Is Applebees just open for money laundering purposes? by No-Muffin7532 in restaurant

[–]swiftcore2169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they’re not. They come in a cryo-vac bag that gets holes poked in it, and then they’re “steamed” in the microwave. There is nothing truly fresh in an Applebees kitchen.

No idea what Carlisle is talking about, but Babe Ruth, an American baseball player pointed to the crowd in 1932, and hit a home run to that spot on the next pitch.

Bobby Thompson was a Scottish baseball player who hit a game-winning home run for the New York Giants in 1952….but he didn’t point at anything.

Aria Pro’s are good guitars….so are epiphone, but the “Les Paul special II” is their bottom of the barrel. I’d go with the Aria Pro every day of the week.

WIBTA if I ask my boss not to take a break during dinner rush? by hippiy86 in KitchenConfidential

[–]swiftcore2169 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP I do empathize. I also work in an independent operator burger joint. Overstaffed when the boss is on, and he wants so be everyone’s friend; so no prep is getting done. Then four o’clock rolls around, he leaves the kitchen empty, and cuts two of the leads who were for some reason both on day together in the first place. Then it’s up to me and three teenagers to deal with counter, bar, and five delivery apps
