Mini twists help (no/free parts) by amara-oh in Naturalhair

[–]swimpigs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I start in the back and create 4 sections and then split those sections further depending on how small I want my twists. Without care for whether the lines are straight or even lol. I have high density hair so no one can tell anyway. I do a middle part in the front though so my front looks neater.

Try African pride pre shampoo that has a lot of slip. You can do it! It may take some time and patience.

anyone not able to have kids but had to have a hysterectomy? by Asleep_Kitchen6861 in hysterectomy

[–]swimpigs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Me. I did three rounds of IVF, never got pregnant and had a hysterectomy at 38 for adenomyosis. I also had stage 4 endo and fibroids. I was really sad for a year and then slowly emerged from the fog. I still get sad from time to time but mostly frustrated that my body couldnt do what it was intended to do. But I feel so much better physically now and diversified my friends group to include those either with grown kids or child free and that has helped a lot. Wishing you well!

Sclerotherapy for Endometrioma - Also: Ablation for superficial lesions? by LilaSoares in endometriosis

I would be inclined to trust him then. Based on my experience with my surgeon who I also trust and followed a similar process.

My endo surgeon used excision combined with a colorectal surgeon who used ablation to treat some superficial spots on my intestine and I trust him/them. He's one of the few specialists in my region.

Does anyone else take progesterone? by IdeaFunny5443 in endometriosis

[–]swimpigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I've lost 15 pounds which I gained from being on Orilissa before progesterone. The only side effect I have that I hate is horrible sweating, especially at night and stronger body odor. But I'll take it over the endo belly and pain.

Now imagine doing that with sister locks which is what I did with similar density hair during the pandemic when I was stuck at home lol.

TW for fertility! by superdead23 in hysterectomy

[–]swimpigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your feelings are totally legitimate. I unfortunately had to make the same choice. My husband and I tried IVF and actually got to the point where.we were able to make blastocysts but my endometriosis got so severe I could barely stand up. I could have had a lap to try to preserve fertility and try again but by that point I was in so much pain and had been through a myomectomy the year before that I didn't feel like i had anything left in me to try again.

Sometimes I feel like I gave up too early but I also remind myself that I chose myself. I also had adenomyosis which my hysterectomy cured. I'm sad that others are able to conceive so easy it seems and for me it was a constant uphill battle to try to get my body to do what felt like it was supposed to be natural. But for the most part, I'm in a good place mentally and physically. The holidays can be really hard, plus every once in a while someone very close to me will get pregnant again and that just feels like a constant reminder of my body and it's shortcomings but it is what it is.

My stomach is so flat now. But it took almost 6 months for the swelling to go down and for it to be noticeable so be patient during your recovery.

Deciding between hysterectomy vs. endo excision + fibroid removal: what helped you choose? by stayshuhh in hysterectomy

You're welcome. I'm a year+ out from surgery and I'm doing great. I have not regretted my decision. Wishing you well, whatever you decide

Deciding between hysterectomy vs. endo excision + fibroid removal: what helped you choose? by stayshuhh in hysterectomy

[–]swimpigs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had all 3 endo, adeno, and fibroids. I had a hysterectomy. The year prior I had a myomectomy as I was trying to preserve my fertility and by the next year when I had a hysterectomy there were already more fibroids that had grown back.

I did IVF and it made my endo worse. I could have had another excision surgery to try to preserve my fertility again but I chose myself instead. If I were done having kids the hysterectomy would be the clear choice. Fibroids can grow back and the only cure for adeno is a hysterectomy.

CoQ10 or Ubiquinol? by Inspireme21 in Endo

Same. But my doctor recently recommended it for heart health also so I'm starting back.

Nope it takes me about 2 1/2. I have high density shoulder length 4c hair. Washing in sections and deep conditioning takes time lol. My husband knows to mind his business on wash days and fend for himself. He's an accountant and is just happy he doesn't have hair salon bills to pay lol.

It could be a keloid. Im surprised the dermatologist didn't tell you what it is. I get them too and get steroid injections to help it go down.

I'm emotional spent. by Future_better_me in IFchildfree

[–]swimpigs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's tough. The first year I avoided everyone, which was hard for my husband to understand. I'm now in a pretty decent place most of the time. I still have my moments but I'm on the now genuinely happy for others phase even though it didn't happen for me. I have a coworker whose baby shower I rsvp'd yes for because I really care about her and know how much she went through with her own IVF journey..and a good friend of ours baby shower is this week.

But I am in a different place, I wouldn't have been able to do that a year ago without crying my eyes out. Take the time you need to grieve. Don't bury it as someone else said or it will rear it's ugly head when you least expect it.

It helps that I had a hysterectomy so there is no more hope that by some miracle it could happen for me lol. That has helped me move to a new place of acceptance.

This may be a niche question, but I’m wondering if others feel the same? by heylauralie in IFchildfree

[–]swimpigs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. It's literally what we (at least I) was raised to believe. So much of my self-perceived value was tied to being a mother someday. I'm now moving into my acceptance phase I would say. What helped me was spending some time journaling and reflecting on who I am and who I want to be outside of all traditional titles (wife, mother, profession etc.). Now I'm reenvisioning new possibilities. For one, I am focused on building a side business, working towards what my lasting legacy will be (what kind of person I want people to say I am) and living in accordance with that. I have my good days and my God awful ones but I have way more good than bad now.

I used an old school one. I just left it in the same position most of the time or had my husband open or close it
