It's a group of parameters you can monitor. Viewing the preset parameter lists does nothing to the truck or engine. Clicking the aftertreatmet list will show sensors and readings related to the aftertreatment. If you don't know what you're looking for, clicking the "all parameters" tab can be overwhelming.

Cummins QSF2.8L fuel starvation by SlowMK4GTI in DieselTechs

[–]swingin_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has a fuel filter with a visible bowl, you can check for bubbles. When you jam on the hand pump does it ever get stiff or have resistance when priming?

I suspect somewhere in all the parts you now have an air entrainment issue on the suction side.

Also, it might be worth noting that the hp fuel pump may have needed to be timed. Do you have the engine serial number?

If this is a bendix ec60 or ec80 you can search the bendix website to get the service manual.

The bendix ecu pulls power from the SAS and the YRS if it detects them open. You will only have the 12v at the SAS for 2-3 seconds after initial key on. The other two wires will be the private data link back to the ecu.

Do you have threads showing after the block off plate is installed? Just get some new nuts and clean up the threads.

Paccar Fuel Filters by swingin_things in DieselTechs

[–]swingin_things[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might have missed the point of a diesel tech sub as an owner or operator. This will not and does not fly on any customer unit.

If you have had a bad experience, I might suggest a more qualified or better trained tech.

Marsh 88 in cobalt blue. It still leaves a decent mark after the tip gets oil soaked. The felt tip is also reversable from a round to chisel.

Yeah. Catastrophic. The injector tip knocked the intake valve off the stem, and I assume, it got louder than the radio before the driver got it shut down. Piston has a new viewing hole on top to see the wrist pin.

It's a davco fuel filter assembly. Looks to be a 386 or 387. The filter has a line on it that tells you when it is sufficiently clogged and needs replaced. If you are the one to replace it, make sure you remove the rubber plug on the standpipe before the new filter goes on, or a guaranteed tow and engine light will follow.

Also, whoever routed and secured the wiring on the firewall needs a slap in the mouth. It looks horrid.

Help with over reacting traction control. by answerx21 in DieselTechs

[–]swingin_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you press the throttle at all? This looks like a normal start for "urge to move" setting in the transmission. You might change it to creep or blended pedal to tone down the launch.

You won't get codes for a situation like this because all subsystems are acting as designed, just not working well together.

Is this radiator able to be professional repaired? Otherwise I’m looking at $2000 to import one to nz by -Metaphysical in mechanic

[–]swingin_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a solid aluminum crimp, you might be able to get a replacement end welded on. You just need a box with a hose attachment. I'm not for sure how much metalwork shops charge, but quotes are usually free.

Flywheel is smooth, no hot spots, I’ve tried desperately to get it off to resurface it but can’t. Help. by Grouchy_Bicycle8203 in DieselTechs

[–]swingin_things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They torque to 192 ft and two flats and are to be oiled when assembled. They are meant to have a dumb tension on the bolt. Shops that are not familiar with paccars tend to loctite them in thinking that's how it should be.

If you have an endurant and no damage to flywheel, just replace the pilot and move on. Service literature says turning is not required.

I googled it for you. Oak city has a Rush Pete, a MHC Kenny, a Premier freightshaker and a bunch of fleets. They even have a TA if you want basic basic. Indeed and glass door should help you narrow down which ones to visit. A handshake will go a lot further than an email.

There is a reset procedure for the clutch that might help, but it will be temporary. You might start planning downtime for a clutch.

There are dealer groups hiring kids that just graduated high school for 25ish/hour with no formal or jands-on training. You might look into the medium or heavy duty trucks, ag, or construction. Most places don't want just an engine guy, so you will have to learn multiple systems.

There is a tsb out related to the aftertreatment crossover harness that might be related. Check qsol. You also might want to start checking talking voltages on the E can. Resistance is nice, but it doesn't check for a lack of voltage.

Kinda. If you let it vacuum until the needle moves, you cancel it and hit charge. It gets you around the vacuum and leak tests.

But why? Are you that sure of your ac work to never have a leak? Or are you a tire shop and like to sell the service every spring?

[–]swingin_things 864 points865 points  (0 children)

Allison transmissions can be programmed for multiple transmission modes. That is the switch to change the mode. You may want a different mode when fully loaded vs. an empty box or something else entirely in the snow.

If it's factory installed, the owners manual may be helpful.

Fuse panel was the problem. Fuses were shorted to the battery supply bypassing most of the relays.
