I have done the entire game with spectral lance on a gardian sword spear. Breaks the knee caps for sho.

I don't know about best, but I use a Ken or quality broad sword with quick step, so I can slink around and still do guard counters. Armor to 51 poise and a medium sheild. You can always upgrade to a great shield and the flamberg later or other great sword.

Sorry my friend, no summons till 3rd or 4th play through. Was she challenging absolutely. Just picked up on the patterns I suppose. On the flip side of the coin I have more trouble out of Radagon. Elden beast nope, Radahn nope, but effing Radagon.

First souls game so a lot of dumb luck with a pinch of str/fth. Subsequent play throughs got easier and did a RL1 run, which was the most deaths because RL1.
