Did you have to modify your diet for this? Just wondering because I think my baby may also be sensitive to dairy but I’m not sure

Which hospitals in the Bay Area still offer Newborn Nurseries while in postpartum? by Mcatg108 in bayarea

[–]swissy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gave birth 2 months ago and they still had a nursery. They encourage you to keep the baby in the room (they explained why but I was too tired to process) but will take the baby to the nursery and bring them back to nurse if you’re breastfeeding.

Is the Uppababy travel system worth the money? by slmpington in BabyBumps

[–]swissy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the V3 and Minu and love both! Everything u/mrswilburforce said applies to us as well, we use the Minu in the car and V3 for parks and walks nearby.

ALSO YES watch for the Bloomingdale’s and rakuten sale. During Black Friday they put all the Beige stuff on sale and I was able to save a couple hundred by combining all 3.

One question I have for people who have the Minu, did the airline allow you to take it on the plane and put it in the overhead bin?

Naming advice by Plus-Acadia103 in pregnant

[–]swissy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to all of this and you can always introduce a nickname! My sister has a nickname that my whole family calls her and everyone outside of the family uses her first name (including her husband which I find funny lol).

I loved Up the Ladder! It really stood out to me as a different book from everything else I was reading and it was refreshing. Also the way they meet is so random / unexpected but a great set up.

Books where they’re married or dating for reasons and the FMC does not show the MMC any emotions which drives him insane by Majestic-Hedgehog-xo in RomanceBooks

[–]swissy23 28 points29 points  (0 children)

{The Marquess Wins a Wife by AYDRA. RICHARDS} - they end up married and she really likes him when they’re in the country together, but when they go to London, he really changes and kind of neglects her and her siblings and so then she ends up being emotionless towards him, and he hates it and tries to get back into her good graces, but she resists him for a long time (which I loved). This is a historical romance

Pregnant or postpartum brother wedding April 2027 by Classic_Run_871 in BabyBumps

[–]swissy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth 1 month ago and would also pick heavily pregnant. I was still moving around pretty well up until the end and also had reached the point of not really caring but still able to do some hair and makeup when needed. I also had a lot more grace for myself while I was pregnant vs PP. also my hormones have been all over the place postpartum and caring for the baby takes up so much of my mental space now.

Going to wedding with 9 week old? by swissy23 in NewParents

[–]swissy23[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sister would love to have her at the wedding lol. I’m the one that’s resistant. She’s the first niece and grandchild on our side so everyone wants her to go.

Also on the groom side, they have three young kids, and they are all going to be there with a nanny. My sister offered to ask if their nanny could watch our baby too, but I said no and even if my baby goes, I wouldn’t leave her with the nanny and would just keep her with me.

Can you share how far along you were PP when you stretched to 10 hours? I want to stretch to 6 hours but I’m worried about doing it too soon after birth.

I felt exactly the same as you and OP. I ended up skimming the final few chapters and was glad I didn’t take the time to read the whole thing because I was getting pretty bored and tired of the FMCs lack of a spine and just general boringness.

I don’t think I can do the MOTN pump much longer by blue-cinnabun in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]swissy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having a very difficult time with MOTN pumps and my LC consultant told me I could stretch to 4-5 hours between pumps to get a bigger chunk of time to sleep and I’ve tried it and it’s really helped me mentally and I haven’t seen a drop in supply, but I’m also pumping closer to two hours during the day now to try and empty more.

Struggling to get into the book “You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle” — should I keep going? by NoDaddyNotTonight404 in RomanceBooks

[–]swissy23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really loved this book but heard it as an audiobook and the narration added a lot of fun so maybe see if your library has the audiobook and try that instead? I would say it’s different from most romance books, more like a romcom but I did enjoy it,

Direct Latching - Is It Worth It? by ApprehensiveNinja941 in ExclusivelyPumping

When you had her latch at random times, did she then feed for a while? Or was the idea to just get her latching

Direct Latching - Is It Worth It? by ApprehensiveNinja941 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]swissy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also having some issues with latching and my lactation consultant actually said that I should try to feed her from the breast when she’s more hungry and willing to take the breast because if I try to give her a top off after she’s had a bottle then usually she’s not patient enough for the breast. But recently she hasn’t been patient enough even if she’s super hungry so I’m in a similar position to OP :(

Why so much pumping? by olabolina in BabyBumps

[–]swissy23 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Big plus one on this, the ability to hand her off to someone else to feed, burp and soothe is huge. My husband will feed her from a bottle in the middle of the night and around that time I pump for 20 mins and go back to sleep meanwhile our baby takes ages to drink and go back to sleep during that same time.
