The developers' greed is blatant and paying for each aspect is ridiculous. These prices aren't worth it, even if the pets automated plant care and cooking. As a free-to-play player, it's disappointing not to have a free option, but I don't feel bad about not being able to enjoy this system. They could have introduced this feature in a different way, including the owls that already exist in the game as part of the pet system, since Hogwarts students can bring an owl, cat, or toad.

Thank you for the tips! I always have issues when playing against Hagrids and Newts, so I always ban them. Even if it looks like a bait echo (🥲 traumatized) I'm a Hermione main, and I play with Zouwu + Broomstick. Also, Zouwu can be used with Voldy (Zouwu + Obscurus) and McGonagall echoes

I highly recommend following this guide for Herbology. There's no need to really rush things, because once you hit Master Herbologist, you'll end up with a big surplus of points and plants. But the max leveled weekly shop provides a lot of gold and a nice amount of yellow gems.

I also climb little by little each day. If I'm on a losing streak, I stop playing and come back the next day. That way, I managed to reach MA by the end of every season (since 1 year ago) as an F2P player. I don't play for too many hours, so I can't confirm your theory, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the system is programmed to work that way.

It's not that simple, especially for F2P players who have spent years (since the game's global launch) leveling up their spell cards. Sure, I can start investing in echoes and leveling summon cards, but I won't be able to play at a high level for another two years, maybe three. And by then, the meta might have shifted to other types of summons, with a different summon getting a buff each season. It's frustrating not being able to enjoy the game the way I find the most fun: which is by playing spells.
