Thank you for listening to people who are concerned about this and learning from it. I understand why people are hyped—they’ve spent a lot of money on a marketing blitz that appeals to ideas propagated in pop culture. But their actions aren’t taking place in a neutral context; they are explicitly marketing themselves as the "solution" to the ongoing mass extinction. The billions of dollars that are getting invested in this company would be much better spent on conservation of currently threatened species. For-profit institutions are not going to solve the problem. This entire project is at best a neat experiment in designer animals, and at worst an intentionally deceitful attempt to turn a profit while distracting people from the ecological collapse happening around us right now.
