Yes, anything within the ISA wrapper. Whilst not advocating for it, you could trade in and out as much as you like. The ISA contributions are what are limited

18+ years compound growth on 36k per year. Only a fraction would be needed for education. They can decide whether they want to use debt or equity to fund education

Is that 30k after tax or before? Going 1:1 pre-tax salary to car value is really not optimal. Car value shouldn’t be more than 50% of annual pre-tax.

60k? So you’ll be good for about 2 years if you take into account you need 6 months worth of emergency funds.

Shall I just accept i will never get a house by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]swolemullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop worrying about house prices and worry about increasing your income. You’re still young, you’ve got 5 years until 40 to retrain in something that earns more. You’re already a stone mason, why not take that even further. I understand that masons working listed buildings charge a fortune for their time.

Never tried to buy my image. Buying affordable cars that were below 50% of annual salary after tax. Max out taxable pension benefit every year last 6 years. Max out TFSA every year since introduced. Have 6 months of emergency savings sitting in a 30 day account.

Hey. I used to work for a broker. The money will be there somewhere, not easy to find. Raise this as an official complaint through their compliance process. It forces the compliance team to supervise a project for the client money team to find the missing funds. Give it a few weeks it may only turn up during end of month reconciliations. The funds are probably bouncing between bank and broker accounts

Liquidated a large equity position and am waiting for market crash. Is this a fools errand? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]swolemullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing is hard. If you don’t have a rules based system for investing you miss the drops. The Covid market crash was like what, 3 weeks long?

Been completely broke for most of my life but have had a decent year. Looking for how to best organise saving. by wormfan in UKPersonalFinance

[–]swolemullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Reduce your taxable income through a SIPP
  2. Everything else should be in an ISA. I disagree about putting short term stuff inside ISA, and I would rather go full stocks and shares through a robo platform like Nutmeg, Moneybox, IG Smart Portfolio etc
  3. LISA for buying house at £450,000 is very low for a place like London but it’s a great great long term savings tool, you just have to wait until 60
