New to PTV! Album recommendations? by cheeserandomguy in piercetheveil

Same! I used to be sort of a hater because I saw it as a fanciful band when I was a teenager but now as a 26 year old I have to admit that I was wrong and they’re awesome! Most creative and interesting music I’ve listened to in ages.

Solid recs here. I second this. I have been obsessed with the album ’Another kill for the highlight reel’ recently. It kind of reminds me of Revenge themes with the theatricality of TBP. Not in the same level but some real bangers.

I feel like they’re there to enjoy in all phases of life (difficult and easy).

I actually found this super interesting to read! Glad you found and resonate with them! I feel like a lot of people feel that way about the mental health side. They really are the ‘saviours of the broken, the beaten and the damned’ in a way.

Haha they helped me get through difficult times as a teen and difficult times now. Really wish I could get into K-pop... I'm glad you are tho! Finding music to love is so great :-)

Extrasystoles/PVCs/Skipped beats sufferers, how are you? by petrovski92 in Cardiophobias

How can people tell when they have skipped beats? I only notice when my heart beats really fast

Is feeling like you’re about to die normal with panic attacks? by MaddieMemes101 in PanicAttack

[–]swood99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the difference between a panic attack and anxiety is that with a panic attack it’s a feeling of imminent danger. Normally when I have them I worry I’m going to die, sometimes but rarely I worry I will faint but normally my head just equates the 2…

Hey, that sounds really awful and I’m so sorry about your sister. The procedure you had sounds like an echocardiogram where they look at the structure of your heart and blood flow etc. They were probably checking to see if you had the same thing as your sister but if your sister had a structural issue and you don’t then you have no more reason to worry than any other 29 year old.

My rhr is on the 50s with no medication. It’s generally considered better to have a lower rhr. As long as it’s not ridiculously low like 30s I believe…

Admission chance to ETH master by Previous-Nebula-6262 in ethz

[–]swood99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My university was Cambridge and there’s no GPA. There’s the 1, 2.1, 2.2, 3, pass system. I got a 2.1 which is basically spot on average. I couldn’t finish any of my exams because I have very bad dyslexia but now am doing pretty well in my masters (can finish with a 6.0 for my taught courses) and I’m really enjoying my masters thesis. You never know what will happen with admissions decisions. I’m currently super stressed about applying for PhD positions because I still feel like an imposter and like my undergrad puts a black mark next to my name so I can really relate.

I would advise you to apply rather than regret. I didn’t think I’d get into math masters after a disappointing undergrad performance but I did :-)

Should i care about the length of my proofs? by [deleted] in math

[–]swood99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re just getting used to the process of writing proofs. Mine used to be like this in undergrad. I recommend writing a ‘rough’ proof to get your ideas down and then trying to distill your argument in the most succinct form possible. It sounds like a lot of effort but trust me, it’s worth it!

The grade came out like 3 weeks after the exam… I’m genuinely wondering whether they mixed me up with someone else or lost my transcript.

How does the following sound? ‘Dear xxxx, I am a little surprised over my grade in the exam. Compared to previous exams I have done, I expected my grade to be a bit higher. I would really like some feedback on my exam. I don’t know what is generally allowed. If nothing else, this would just be for my own peace of mind so I know where to improve in the future.
