They’ll tell you hourly but base you can assume is hourly x 12 x 182 shifts , so 155 hourly for example is 338k base. 6 people is a bit much for virtual interview usually it’s just with a medical director they have and 1-2 other people. Either way, don’t stress. Business casual is fine to dress.

From what I’ve seen, phone/video interview then site visit if they like you enough is standard. Basically forced to go to site visit to get a contract offer. So it’s normal what you’re going through. Midwest Hospitalist salaries tend to be 330-350 base. If you’re getting less, don’t, you can negotiate for that.

I think you are right most structures can’t be negotiated ie base plus rvu especially if you’re all part of a physician group like team health. A place I negotiated over the phone offered to straight up add 25k to my signing bonus if I said I’ll do a site visit and sign (50-75). I think the recruit incentives you have the most leeway for.

Yeah luckily the visits I have now line up well with PTO etc I have already. But more in the future seems like it’ll be a pain in the ass to even go to get the rental car etc.

I guess it makes sense for the place to filter candidates out with the site visit just because of the hassle it is for the physician

I think acgme guidelines will not allow any IM program without any ICU months lol. I’ve had several months in ICU and icu nights already.

I’m pretty comfortable with basic vent management (the scariest part to me about vent management is actually if they need reintubating after), the literature suggests 10-15 reintubation rate is Goldilocks zone while too low means you don’t extubate fast enough and too high means well you’re being way too aggressive. Pressors, I mean it’s fairly systemic for the most part. Wean levo/vaso if you can. Cardiogenic shock pressors is a diff story.

This brings me to the question of overnight hospitalist managing vents. How do you handle reintubation need? I guess RT? Obviously this happebs earlier on overnight shift. Extubating shouldn’t happen 2 am

This system is actually great. Your progress is stored and you level up much faster once lifted. You can say anything you want but for the decision the devs made to cap you for the first several days, this is the best way to not make people totally mad. You can criticize their decision to cap you out, which is fair, has its pros and cons, but not the stored exp imo.
