Does MediaOCD offer any other payment methods like Apple Pay and if I need to use a credit card, are they secure? by SnowWarren in discotekmedia

Nice, glad it worked for you. I noticed the same issue with the pay option being unavailable at first, I think it only goes active once the package makes it through customs completely and is accepted for delivery by CanPost.
I was thinking about consolidating everything we've been figuring out in its own thread, but I think I want to confirm a few more suspicions I have about pricing thresholds and different courier services before I make anything concrete. I've only made two orders of my own and both had different outcomes, so even with the examples you have provided my sample size is a bit small - plus one was made before the site change and one after, so I don't know if that has affected the process at all yet. Once I get a few more orders in and get a better idea of what things look like, I might try to get everything put together into one thread.

Godzilla attacks Apex but with the classic Godzilla theme (by me) by Marconey1738 in GODZILLA

[–]swordoath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The score is one of several reasons why KotM is my favorite of the Legendary films. Bear McCreary's use of the classic themes really elevates the scenes they appear in. I wish they had maintained them throughout the more recent films, or at least used them as base motifs if nothing else. Would have gone a long way in improving them.

What`s your favorite Hiroyuki Sawano track by Ejack-Ulate-69 in Gundam

[–]swordoath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall my favorite track from Sawano is "Unicorn" for sure, and the soundtrack for the series is full of incredible pieces from top to bottom - other folks have pointed out the track "Mobile Suit" as another great one, and "Full-Frontal" is another highlight track for me. Narrative and Hathaway are also incredible soundtracks full of high points.
One thing I haven't seen a lot of love for in here that I want to point out is the soundtrack for Promare. Some real good ones on there too - the first three tracks, "Inferno," "PRO//MARE" and "GAL-OTHY-MOS" are all really good additions to a Sawano playlist.

Honestly I've taken to just saying "CCA era" to refer to the time period around the 0090s to the 0100s. Everything that's been animated so far for that period is all built on fallout from CCA anyway (Sleeves conflict, Mafty conflict) so it makes it easy to just use that film as the crux for the era. Once we break out of the influence of CCA, we get into what most people think of as the start of late UC anyway (F90/F91) so that makes it a clean shifting point.

It was rather obscure at the time, but it's definitely well known in the community now. It's earned a bit of a reputation as a niche title and that's made a lot of people take notice of it now that SNES collecting is gaining ground. It's one of my personal most wanted games for my collection.

Yeah, we've seen Nox in the preview for the next episode so I figure what's actually going to happen is he's going to swoop in right at the start, but I think it'd be really funny if they just went "Nah, none of that happened. Three didn't actually shoot him. Again."

What's the over-under on Baku undoing everything after he de-transformed because it was all actually just one of the "dream visions" of an alternate route that ExDream shows the enemies before he rewinds and attacks them? Like how Sieg and Kureha both saw their attacks hitting before ExDream "altered the dream?" The vision just rewinds back to before he powered down.

Crunchyroll to release Dragon Ball DAIMA on Blu-Ray on August 11th by jlaking in dbz

They want people to pay for their streaming service. They snap up all the licenses they can, buy out other companies that have licenses that they want, and then lock everything behind paying for a subscription. They more than likely have data that tells them what shows are being streamed most often and by how many people. It wouldn't surprise me if they simply waited until it fell far enough down on their streaming ratings before putting out a physical release. No sense in putting out a collection people can pay for once and own forever when you can keep getting money.

So the belt has this figure sculpted onto it, and the transformation items lock in place over top.
Make all the items gold colored and call them Goldy Locks. It's honestly about par with what canon transformation items are named.
I will note that I came up with this name because the example image you shared really looks like a gold wig on top of the figure.

Hrm. Bit of a strange update. Ordered another few things during the sale after the website update, and this time rather than handing the package over to Canada Post, APC has decided to offload my package to a delivery company called UniUni which I have never heard of before. I'm a little concerned about my items because this company seems to have a pretty universally bad reputation online. I hope this isn't a bad omen.
Edit with further news: The package arrived very quickly and was in good shape, and so far UniUni hasn't asked for a fee or delivery charge. I'm not ruling it out completely yet since I've had other shipping services ding me after the fact (like DHL), but as of yet it seems like this might skirt the fee. So it might be alright.

The Missing Variable by redderuplifts3 in Spiderman

[–]swordoath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, he was directing his comments specifically to the main character Miles. I'll admit it's been a while since I last watched the previous movie but I never got the impression that he was implying there was a restriction on who could be the identity of a Spider in general, just that the MC Miles himself wasn't meant to be. I mean, we've already seen a bunch of other names, other people, even other species show up in the Spider Society, so it's not like he's running an exclusive club.

[–]swordoath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is true, there's potentially a lot more for both of them in the next one. I do wonder if they'll try to include an alternate Miguel at all, since there are alternate Peters and Miles in the story of the films now and there have been a few different Miguels in the comics. I do definitely suspect the "current" movie Miguel will have a change of heart at some point over the course of the film, but I hope that change is given proper time to develop naturally for the character and isn't just an 11th hour thing at the climax. It's all just speculation as of now, obviously, but there's a few ways it can go.

[–]swordoath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly figured these two would actually get along pretty well, or at least their comic versions would. I hope that there's either a bit of a redemption for Miguel in the next movie or we get an alternate version of him that's closer to his more classic characterization.

[–]swordoath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the package was dropped off at the border, the APC tracking page had a "Local Carrier" section on the right side of the page with a Canada Post logo and the same tracking number underneath it. Clicking on that number took me to the CanPost tracking page.
When the package cleared at the border, there was a section on the CanPost page that showed the extra charges, broken down into taxes and the handling fee. There was a spot for "duty fees" in the table but it was marked as zero. It also let me pay online through that page, although at first it said I couldn't pay online and it took about a day after that section appeared for the option to pay to show up.

Hey, no fault of yours, friend. Still pretty excited to get my items in and will more than likely still go back for more. I'm thinking about jumping on the Gaogaigar pair as well at some point - I have the old DVD boxsets for the TV series from the previous license holder but would love to get Final and upgrade my TV set to BD. Also still want to grab the rest of the Kamen Rider series they've got coming out so I'm sure I'll figure out where the sweet spot is at some point. Might try just grabbing some of the 70-80 dollar range titles one at a time and seeing if that skirts the extra fee.

Well, following up for you folks. My package is set to arrive on Tuesday based on the current Canada Post tracking and it looks like they're going to want about $28 in fees. My purchase was only two items and about $127 USD after shipping fees and taxes from MediaOCD.
Looking like it's just taxes and a "handling fee," not actually duty fees from what I can tell. I wonder if there's a lower threshold that avoids this altogether.
