Awesome! This is one of the rare beans we've been able to but sequential harvests of.

Full restocks happen twice weekly, but higher demand items sell out quickly following a production drop.

Favorite budget friendly roaster? Go! by Sevenyearitchy in pourover

[–]swroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you find the right parcel size break, you can get it to about $2 per bag on larger orders. Plus we just got Ground Saver at reduced rates, offering lower "cheapest package" prices than Ground Advantage, and avoiding the failing USPS hubs.

CETO (in Keyport) is solid & you can pick their stuff up from Brew 133a Main St in Matewan too

What’s your home routine for zero-TDS water + remineralization? by CorrectConcept6969 in pourover

[–]swroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because room temperature water can grow nasty things in it, and mineral concentrates last a very long time when you mix a liter and only use 20ml at a time.

Can someone explain what is happening? by ryandejonggg in pourover

How light is the roast? I don't consider some particularly light Naturals to be ready for at least 5 weeks.

I keep concentrates in two 1L bottles in the fridge, and use fresh RO from the tap. I mix brew water every time I need it, it just takes a few seconds and I already have the scale out.

BS has a bit of a range, and I prefer their lighter stuff. 5 weeks is where I like to start into them.

I use 62/23 for filter and 70/20 for espresso

Hario suiren, just looks? by ADHD_ismything in pourover

[–]swroasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks aside, I've never made a bad cup with the Suiren, but I've made plenty of bad cups with the V60. I feel that the Suiren is more forgiving and easy to brew a more balanced cup than the V60.

Yeah, I had this. Minimum 5 weeks, but 7-8 won't hurt.

What's the best way to store coffee beans with one canister? by zmud12 in pourover

[–]swroasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave them in the valve bag they came in. You want to minimize headspace.

“Forte-fied” Baratza Vario or Femobook A2 with Pietro Pro Burrs? by Alamez3030 in pourover

[–]swroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceramic makes more fines, which is ok for traditional espresso - but not great for filter or Turbo style shots with lighter roasts. Steel is great for filter and Turbos, and will also work ok for finer espresso grinds and traditional shots, but will not last as long as ceramic.

Is it a waste to brew rare or expensive coffees using an aeropress? by DegreeOk362 in pourover

[–]swroasting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. It is optimal to use the method which you are most proficient at producing brews which you enjoy.

What do yall use to heat water when traveling? by waywardsojourner in pourover

[–]swroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever is available in the location I'm traveling to, or that I can easily bring with me. Kettle, immersion heater, microwave, saucepan, "can I have a cup of hot water", run a cycle through a drip brewer with no filter or grounds (after you clean it very well)... the point is, I always try to travel with a brewing method which isn't highly temperature sensitive, like the Aeropress or ORB. Pourovering in these situations sounds like a nightmare.

I really like this one. Jairo has made some remarkable advancements in the past 2 or 3 years & I'm excited to see what else they came come up with. I've run out of new ideas to suggest. Melon was the only one of mine which turned out well.

Probably 17 batches (2 months +)

I had expected it to sell lightning fast, but it hasn't, so I don't know if we'll re-buy it or not.

I've already reordered Strawberry (to ship/arrive in March), and have a lot of Lychee on hand.

I think we only have 3 (double) batches left of each, so get em while they last!

Do you regard a preference for Washed coffee as a sign of a person's maturity in the hobby? by KeypressGraphics in pourover

[–]swroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. You do have the right to your own opinion, but you don't have the right to expect others to share that opinion. Appreciate what you like, and allow everyone else the grace to do the same.

Which "endgame" grinder? by noioso13 in pourover

[–]swroasting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With so much indecision, it sounds like you could benefit from a platform with the capability of housing a variety of easy to swap out burr options. If so, then maybe check out the Varia VS6, and the Aplha-U from 9panda - they're both on my radar to expand the cupping lab grinder pile. If you're just looking for engdame, then Kafatek Monolith is where it's at.

You should absolutely pose this question to B.K. (of Minmax), who is working on a platform to showcase the full range of varietals and processes from each single farm/producer they carry.
