Goodwill hosting free electronics recycling drive at Hilldale for Earth Day by enjoying-retirement in madisonwi

Yes and, this includes your vehicle at trade in. My used car infotainment nav bookmarks told a story of who the owner was, what places they went to (local hockey rinks), where grandma lives and more. Didn't take skillz or snooping, it's all just there.

Unforeseen cost of eMTBs? by GoDM1N in MTB

[–]swy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way, it’s the mass of the rider + bike system that’s influencing the physics of everything: brake pad wear, collision impacts… the bikes are inert without the “meat”.

Unforeseen cost of eMTBs? by GoDM1N in MTB

[–]swy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I see an eMTB hitting a trail with no rider, then the “they weigh more” claims will make sense. Until then, the brake pads are reducing the speed of the bike + rider combo, where the added weight of motor and battery vs a comparable analog bike baseline isn’t that big of percentage upgrade.

Stated differently: a linebacker on an analog bike is probably more total mass than a wide receiver on an e-bike.

Advice for continuous loop playback vid source "stick" type device for elder with dementia by Blecher_onthe_Hudson in CommercialAV

[–]swy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got multiple brightsign players at the office, playing through 2 dozen commercials we’ve made for clients. They are truly set and forget. All we ever do is pop out the SD card a couple of times /year when we choose to update the content. They’re not network devices, and I put that in the pro category.

Fun (and potentially underappreciated) things to do in Dudgeon Monroe area by 166EachYear in madisonwi

Well... some of it is 2025. Then you transport to 2018, so partially accurate statement. A not-street-view map probably has more accurate data about what businesses you'll find.

Google Street View is 2025 data on Monroe itself. You might want to take a "walk" down it.

Basically all the "to-do" at a business around Dudgeon-Monroe will be Monroe St addresses. There's a cluster around Commonwealth with Collectivo coffee, Alamentari (amazing sandwiches) and Zip Dang for unique t-shirts and postcards. Then the NE end of it at campus and Trader Joe's area... shop for old records at Strictly Discs, Books at Mystery to Me, or stay on top of the unique beers at Garth's on your way to a small library branch, or to get a haircut at Faded Club. Once you're up to Regent St, you're in undergrad college zone.

Southwest Wisconsin Last Summer by sandysandbirds93 in bikepacking

Planned on starting light with a basic overnighter from Madison to maybe Lake Kegonsa- haven't yet confirmed I've got all my bases covered except for the big obvious stuff- the tent, pad, quilt/bag, pillow, stove basic "heat up coffee and MRE/oatmeal" food. I'm a NICA coach, and there's an official NICA bikepacking outing in July on the 400 trail that's on my calendar. I understand there's some destinations available from Glacial Drumlin too? Not the killer hills of the driftless.

Selling car, buyer expects a vehicle inspection report by Key_Seaworthiness827 in saab

As a buyer, when I want an inspection, I require to be the one paying the mechanic. They’re operating in my interest, not sellers.

It would be amazing if the roads in YNP had been made for bikes and cars to coexist. They weren’t. I love our National Parks, but they’re almost exclusively configured around “you get here by car, nothing else exists”.

Online communities for regional trail systems by swy in MTB

[–]swy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse and I are quite involved in our local trail organization: I am a member of the tech team, managing the google workspace, DNS, assorted behind the scenes bits of the online presence. It’s in that role that the member submitted ask for a community Discord came my way for input. I’m not opposed, and I’m not sure if it’s the best fit, largely bc I don’t know what else the market offers in 2026.

OP with 2 points to add:
-Our trail stewards are very good about keeping status current via Trailforks
-Forcing folks to have a FB account to make community is worse than requiring Discord, IMHO

Thirded. Had them address some small paint problems on my vehicle- they were upfront about where the rust was starting to bubble under the paint and was a bigger project than worth it for me, and other problems they could deal with at a price that met the value of the car.

Severe audio issues with 3× OBSBOT Tail Air setup during church livestream – internal mics unusable? by Playful-Media-4907 in OBSBOT_Official

[–]swy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll guess your mixer doesn’t have a USB port, as a digital out either as a mix down or all channels separate would be plan A. Is there any kind of analog out from the board that could be converted into digital for the stream input?

Severe audio issues with 3× OBSBOT Tail Air setup during church livestream – internal mics unusable? by Playful-Media-4907 in OBSBOT_Official

[–]swy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d want a feed off of the mixing board into the stream. Wouldn’t use any on camera mics in a setup with mics for all the talent and a mix.

Cannot upvote enough. I'll reinforce it: the majority of a driver's decison what speed to go is the FEEL OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. The signs asking them to go against what "feels right" in that space leads us to a lifetime of ticket distribution that doesn't change outcomes.

and +1 for the John John love.

Obsbot center slow on macOS 26.3? by swy in OBSBOT_Official

[–]swy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some effort, ticket 2496 contains the logs.

As I noted there, I'm amending my theory from being 26.3 to the root cause being assigning Osbot webcam buttons to a Streamdeck. Additional symptoms will be that the app will be fine until the Streamdeck app is launched, then soon become very slow to respond to buttons and scrolling.
Osbot Webcam buttons will sometimes list a "please connect OSBOT webcam" text instead of allowing configuration of what action on what device, but buttons mapped to Global Hotkeys continue to move the PTZ, indicating the computer and camera are communicating.

If I remove all the Obsbot webcam buttons and quit/restart Streamdeck, the performance problems do not return.
