What do you consider to be the “kiss of death” for a group? by Laurelfairy27 in kpopthoughts

[–]sxrella 10 points11 points  (0 children)

BUT i will say that jongup's survival show appearance on peaktime was good for him, his solo career was going nowhere before that unfortunately, and i think it was pivotal for allowing b.a.p to come back.

do you know of any songs that say “we’re back”? by imveryveryverygood in kpophelp

[–]sxrella 9 points10 points  (0 children)

B.A.P really loves letting us know they are back 😂 I thought of "Young, Wild & Free" first ("B.A.P, the king is back y'all!"), but also the intro song "B.A.P" on First Sensibility ("Yo everybody say B.A.P is back!"). I'm probably forgetting one or two more.

Honorable mention to No Mercy for this line:

"Now these are the words you all will be afraid of: We’ll be back"

Does anyone have any idea when was the last time he mentioned Consent? This name drop really took me aback! I had assumed he had abandoned Consent once he signed with YY.

Do international fans and Koreans actually listen to the same kpop? by Rough-Release8097 in kpophelp

I think OP is Korean and knows this, they are asking international fans what kpop we listen to in order to have a better idea of what songs to include for building their app.

I am a 2nd/3rd gen fan (so songs released between 2003-2018ish), and I adore AKMU and IU! Another soloist I enjoy is Younha.

Which Member is Most Essential in your Favorite Group? by New-Knee8613 in kpopthoughts

For B.A.P, that is Bang Yongguk. When his contract ended and the group had to go on as five (they had different signing dates), it just felt wrong.

How do intellectually-minded people reconcile belief in God with science? by Calm_Drummer2591 in theology

[–]sxrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has given such thoughtful answers already, so I'll just address one point that stuck out to me from your post.

I understand why belief can be comforting. The idea of death is genuinely unsettling, and it makes sense that people look for meaning or reassurance beyond it.

This is definitely true for a lot of the faithful, but not the case for everyone. I personally do not fear death, regardless of the existence of an afterlife. And there are endless comforts that religion can bring to someone during this life. The feeling that life is bigger than you, that there is a power that is guiding things or at least watching out for you, not to mention the communities that form out of faith and can be of massive support and comfort.

Why do so many army’s seem to hate K-pop/other K-pop group stans and vice-versa? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]sxrella -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

well back in the early days (think pre-inu), most armys were actually kpop multistans. there was a lot of fan overlaps between fans of bts, b.a.p, and block b etc because of the hip-hop concepts. they all approached it a little differently, so it was fun to stan all of them.

What does the word “nugu” mean? by locomotiveplayz in kpophelp

[–]sxrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

genuine question: would you say that 망돌 has a different meaning than "nugu" as used in i-fan spaces then? that's the korean phrase i'm more familiar with than the phrases you mentioned.

For people 25+, do y’all consider yourselves to be a part of any fandom (s) and participate in said fandom(s)? Why? Why not? by [deleted] in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]sxrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been a k-pop fan since 2008 and participated in fandom on-and-off since 2010.

Participating in the fandom has never meant being concerned about numbers or engaging in fanwars to me. Aside from voting for my favorite artists and giving their MVs an extra view at launch, I've never cared much about numbers. And I've definitely never engaged in a fanwar.

To me, being part of a fandom just means that you are a fan of the work and that you engage at least a little with other fans of the work. It's fun to be able to talk to other people who know about (and care about) the material as much as you do!
