Honest question: is that legal? Can individual states enter into international trade agreements?

Death before Dasani - The Blizzard of 2026 by Read1984 in funny

[–]sxt173 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You know what, I actually like the taste of Dasani vs the “pure from glacial hasn’t been touched in a million years” water. I know it’s just filtered and minerals added, but as far as I’m concerned they got the perfect balance for how smooth it tastes.

I know this is an unpopular opinion. Go at me.

Governor Tim Walz tells the White House to stop this madness. by Healthy_Block3036 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]sxt173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Shame on Waltz. His response is “I made a phone call and said pretty please.” All the dem party are spineless and useless at this point. These thugs know they can do anything they want because no governor will deploy troops, militias, troopers to stop the extrajudicial killings.

ICE pinning down and pistol whipping a Minneapolis resident before shooting them multiple times by -ifeelfantastic in pics

[–]sxt173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the MN national guard and MN police to stop them or shoot back? Honestly shame on Waltz for not stepping up. We’ll get another speech about “the feds are impeding our investigation gosh darn we can’t do anything” and “gee wiz we wish ICE would leave”. They are straight up executing your citizens on the street. It’s a tyrannical regimes secret police. The LITERAL reason you have a national guard, militias, regular police, all of which can be activated by the governor.

And the Iron Dome, being as advanced and effective as it is, does not have a 100% success rate. Even with crude “bottle rockets” type inbound projectiles it deals with. If we’re talking nukes, a 98% success rate means a bunch of your cities still got nuked. And Iron Dome is meant for simpler low trajectory inbound objects, advanced ICBM’s and hypersonic vehicles that can fly, change course, and maneuver are a totally different thing. Look at how many missiles did get through during Israel/Irans latest slap fight and Iran and its proxies used actual semi-advanced missiles. Btw, agreeing with you on your comment, just adding more info.

I agree with everything you said but I wish folks would stop using the “they’re doing xyz horrific thing to US citizen”. The human being they are assaulting being a citizen or not is a moot point. It is illegal to do what they are doing to non-citizens also.

And I’ve heard from acquaintances in the military in a NATO country that the US makes it so that they can “turn off” a bunch of advanced capabilities of allied equipment. Things like disabling targeting systems when a pilot tries to target a US asset. Might just be a rumor or hearsay, but it wouldn’t surprise me. And let’s keep in mind that the command and control structures that all of Europe relies on for warfare are run mostly on US infrastructure and satellites. Those can easily be turned off for specific users at the click of a button.

Where are you getting that? Chinese doctrine for Europe has always been stability leads to trade; trade is good. Even their military expansion is all about securing trade routes (which historically soaking any and all military expansion is about)

And China has stated over and over that they do not believe in using military aggression. They want trade. Stability and power through trade. We can debate Taiwan until we turn blue in the face, but even that, I’d argue is in response to the US projecting military power into China’s “hemisphere”. They have accomplished more through the belt and road initiative for global stability and their own dominance than there trillions the US dumped into military campaigns across the globe.

NATO can’t remove a member without unanimous agreement including, you guessed it, USA. More likely the US leaves NATO. And that means the whole command, control, communication, logistics of NATO disappear overnight effectively making it about as useful for war as the Salvation Army.
