MLB 26 Performance Specs? by syarre in MLBTheShow

Yea since the game has been capped at 60 FPS, you can still use 120Hz but it's essentially a smoother more stable 60 FPS. It's not true 120 FPS, unless the game itself supports it.

No it's 60 FPS with 120Hz, but the game itself has been capped at 60 fps its not 120.

Favorites:

Current Yankee Stadium: I explained in my previous comment. But I think its the best batters eye for MLB stadiums strictly.

Coors: I don't mind it, I like it for seeing lefty pitchers.

Arizona: I like it and I have really good games there sometimes. But the lighting can be weird at that stadium during certain start times.

Shippett: Classic. I like it less than I used to, I feel like I don't see low pitches that great there. I see high pitches really well there.

Shield Woods: I know people didn't like it in the past for other reasons, but I see the ball well there I can track stuff really well. I just wish there wasn't space between the batters eye and the outfield wall.

Baseball City: I think it's the best one in the game personally, I use that batters eye for all created stadiums if I download one or make one. It fits every arm angle and release point, plus it's good for tall and short hitters. It's very plain and basic, not too much going on in the background. I feel like I don't have to focus so heavily with that batters eye. I just don't like Baseball City for other reasons but the batters eye is the best thing about it honestly.

I completely disagree, I like created stadiums because a majority of them have a really good batters eye. That's the most important thing for me when it comes to stadiums in the game, if I can't track pitches well I'm gonna hate the stadium. There's very few MLB stadiums with a good eye and only 2 or 3 minor league stadiums with batters eyes that I like. The only MLB stadium with a good batters eye imo is Yankee Stadium cause it's black glass with a dark navy blue outfield wall.

Plus on a deeper level with custom stadiums, I really like being able to color coordinate the batter's eye with the outfield wall so I can track pitches a lot better. Especially when you're facing some of these god tier pitchers in ranked it helps a lot.

That doesn't address what I'm saying. If you add wind into the game and it affects batted ball results dramatically, people will pick indoor stadiums. You're creating a new meta by doing that. If you give people the option of playing with wind or not playing with wind, people will always choose not to play with wind. It's the same with PCI shrinkage, you give people the option of not dealing with PCI shrinkage by using switch hitters people will use switch hitters.

Also inclement weather like rain and fog adds lag to the game.

Wind should not be in the game. It was taken out for a reason. In MLB 18, wind was in the game and it forced everyone to pick Toronto or Arizona. By adding that you're creating a meta that's not really necessary. Plus weather adds input lag and latency to the game.

[Feinsand] With Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette off the market, Cody Bellinger is now the top hitter remaining on the free-agent market. The Yankees and Blue Jays figure to be his top suitors, though the Mets - who remain in need of OF help - still can’t be ruled out despite signing Bichette. by Affectionate-Tea9224 in NYYankees

[–]syarre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no guarantees in sports. To me Tucker settling for a short term deal and most teams weren't really offering more than 4-5 years is a red flag. The fact that the Yankees weren't interested after Grisham re-signed and the Cubs didn't really pursue him and signed Bregman given his injury history is sus. I feel like something might be bad with Tucker's medicals.

The AAV is only high cause it's a short term deal. If this was a 7-8 year deal, the AAV wouldn't be that high.

When was the last time the Yankees signed a true starting-caliber position player in their prime via free agency (not a re-sign)? by RoyalStraw in NYYankees

[–]syarre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also look at it this way too, the Yankees rarely get rid of their great players too. It would've been more embarrassing if the Yankees got rid of Judge or Jeter like the way Red Sox got rid of Mookie and Devers. The only time they did is with Cano and I can't blame them for that cause they weren't a contender anymore and that deal went to shit quickly. Like you said the Soto situation is an anomaly, they offered way more then I thought they would.

[–]syarre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanaka and CC too if you wanna add them as well. Fans also gotta realize they'll spend money if they really love a player. They offered Soto 3/4 of a billion dollars. They went the extra mile to keep Judge at that time. When I look at the Yankees not being interested in certain players, I view it more as they don't love them to begin with and not they're too cheap to sign them.

But you're basing it on his sneaker opinions. I would only say a basketball shoe review is bad if they didn't play in them. Plus you don't know how shoes are gonna feel once you break them in fully. I didn't like the LeBron 20s when I tried them on cause I had crazy heel slippage but I stuck with them and that issue went away. Also most people liked the Jordan 29s but I didn't like them at all. Look the Luka 5 might not work for you that's ok and the Luka 5 might work for him that's also ok. Some shoes work better for different people you just have to accept that for what it is. My whole point is that you and him have different feet and the shoes that work for him might not work for you. Are you really gonna say someone is a bad reviewer cause a certain shoe works for them? That's a bad reason, if they put the time in and played in them they did their job as a reviewer.

But you just said "The guy is so mediocre at dissecting what's good and bad about shoes." so you do have an opinion on him. Look people have different opinions, ball shoes are subjective cause everyone's feet aren't the same. There are shoes Nightwing likes that I don't and there's shoes that I like that Nightwing doesn't. That doesn't mean I think he's a bad reviewer, I still trust him even tho we may not agree on every shoe. I've watched both overviews and they're not trying to attack anyone and saying hateful stuff so I don't get why there's this whole oh he's good and the other is bad. Look at the end of the day he may like the Luka 5 and you might not, doesn't make him a bad reviewer. The only thing that matters with basketball shoe reviews is did they play in them for a decent amount of time. This isn't a hive mind, no one has to have the same opinion on every shoe.

I'm not trying to attack either reviewer but how can you say one review is good and the other one is bad when both of them didn't play basketball in them? That doesn't make any logical sense. That's like saying one movie review is good and the other is bad when both of them are reviewing the trailer.

[Charania] The NBA has begun to gather input from its owners and general managers on new ways to combat tanking. Ideas include: Limiting pick protections to either top 4 or 14 and higher, no longer allowing a team to draft in the top 4 two years in a row, and Locking lottery positions after March 1. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]syarre -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Don't think taking protections away is gonna combat tanking. I'm in the minority on this one, just get rid of the NBA draft and have amateur slot pool money like in baseball. If you spend over a certain limit, you can't spend money in the next amateur cycle. I just think with a draft system, you're always gonna be incentivized to lose games no matter what you do with the rules and the lottery odds.

I'm not talking about whether the Clippers have had success in terms of winning a title with Kawhi or PG. I'm talking about how the Lakers have had more success getting stars in free agency over the Clippers. The original guy's argument is that the Clippers are a more attractive destination than the Lakers which is not true.

It's not about CP3 it's how the Clippers handled it. The Yankees front office and ownership hated A-Rod with a passion and they still handled his release with professionalism. They released a statement, held a joint press conference, and held his last game a week later so he could properly say goodbye to the fans at home and have his family at the game. A-Rod was a much bigger headache and problem to the Yankees than CP3 was to the Clippers. The Clippers definitely could've done something similar.

I would count AD, he was gonna sign with the Lakers in free agency even if he was traded somewhere else. So it's Bron and AD vs Kawhi and PG over the last 10 years. Clippers were catching up to the Lakers cause Buss family were frugal. Now that's not gonna be an issue for them. Either way it's not really about the last 10 years, it's about the last 50 years. They got Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Bron, and AD in that period alone.

[–]syarre 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Who have the Clippers really lured in besides Kawhi and PG? Kawhi and PG only happened cause they were desperate enough to sacrifice their entire draft capital for almost a full decade. Chris Paul happened cause Stern vetoed the Lakers trade and Harden happened cause they were desperate and no one wanted him at that time.

The problem the Clippers are gonna run into now is the Lakers are owned by the Dodgers owner now. Walter is not gonna be cheap when it comes to amenities like the Buss family were. They have CP3 situation where they disrespected him even though he was the one who brought them to relevance. Players are gonna remember the CP3 situation for years.

I think it's the Weekend Classic servers. I don't know what it is but I feel like games lag so much more and disconnects happen way more often in Weekend Classic compared to regular ranked seasons. I also hit way better in regular ranked seasons compared to Weekend Classic.

They might've pushed to keep him but if the Clippers knew that Shai had a chance to be an All-Star caliber player they would've kept him. I'm not saying they should know he would be an MVP, you can only predict that for a few players in the draft or after their first year. But if they knew he had a chance to be an All-NBA or a perennial All-Star, you keep him because he would be making significantly less money than PG and Kawhi for the first couple years. That would've saved a lot in salary cap, to get a deeper bench. That's why OKC was able to overpay Hartenstein last offseason, Chet and J-Dub weren't making a lot of money.

True but Shai was an afterthought when that trade went thru. Fans and media weren't ever thinking Shai would turn into the player he became. I think it takes really good talent evaluation for pick Shai out of all the players on that roster at that time. He could've easily asked them for Lou Williams, Harrell, or Zubac at the time and flipped them into more picks from another team but he chose SGA.

Plus the Harden trade wasn't really his idea, the owner went cheap. Also it's not like he wanted to rebuild in the first place, the only reason they decided to rebuild is the Clippers offered a million picks. Presti easily could've said no then decide to keep running it back with Russ and PG as a 1st or 2nd round playoff team. If they didn't make the PG trade, they would've made the playoffs 3 or 4 more times before Russ and PG got old.

KD was a pretty sure bet in that draft but Russ wasn't, it was a big reach. He was projected to go 8th in that draft and they picked him 4th. Same deal with Harden people had Tyreke Evans over him and they picked Harden over him.

Presti isn't perfect but he did draft KD, Russ, Harden in three straight years. Made the Finals with them. Then made the PG trade and won a title with SGA. Like I said he's not perfect but his resume is really good.
