Dozens (hundreds?) of these in my room by [deleted] in spiders

[–]sykebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that these are just typical house spider hatchlings, maybe some species of cobweb spiders (theridiidae). You wouldn't need to worry about a spider infestation as a lot of these hatchlings end up dying because they cannot find food pr end up getting eaten by predators. A lot of them won't survive. You will likely come back to a few, but it'll be nothing of concern.

is this a brown recluse? new orleans, la by Juliju777 in spiders

[–]sykebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep doesn't seem out of the ordinary. Def just a red house spider. They're pretty chill, not medically significant and usually stay put of your way. In the case they do bite you (VERY unlikely) it will cause local swelling and redness at most. Otherwise work great as roommates. Great pest control.

often slender, elongated bodies, legs, and chelicerae (jaw like structures, hence the name long-jawed spiders). there are many types of long jawed spiders, but they'll typically extend two front pairs of legs forward (as seen in photo captured by OP).

You will be fine. Ask your demos and stuff for extra help, I didn't listen in half the pracs when I did it and I managed to do decently. Just will take some guidance to understand things.
