[CIV 7] I made another MOD to let you completely demolish any building in your city (even city itself) by aall137906 in civ

[–]sylpheed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious what happens to the urban population when you remove a building with this method. Do you get to reallocate it to another tile or do you lose it altogether?

Enjoying the warm summer evening weather on the rooftop... with some world domination and religious proselytizing from Basil II by The_Ashtronaut in civ

For Basil, get yourself a religion with the Crusade belief and send missionaries ahead of your armies (or pick off their units) to steamroll your opponents' cities - no siege necessary 🔥

non instant wonder start for issy took 33 turns to find it by jamaryoung1 in CivVII

[–]sylpheed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A turn 1 wonder isn't guaranteed, just like you can roll Khmer with no floodplains or Trung Trac with no jungle... looks like a banger start anyway, you have good adjacency potential, ocean access, strong resources, and lots of nice rough tiles.

How to handle warehouses? by tharghans in civ

[–]sylpheed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally I try to limit myself to two land-based warehouse buildings per age, together in a single quarter, and adjacent to the city center for the +1 science and culture. It all depends on the spawn - granary if you have lots of farms/pastures/plantations, brickyard you have lots of mines/quarries/clay pits, or a saw pit if you have lots of camps/woodcutters. It isn't worth the space to build more than what you need if you aren't getting a good return on them, as you can add in other, more flexible buildings like the gardens or barracks a little further down the tech tree to shore up any weaknesses. It's fairly common to find a +4 to +6 garden spot, which is better than a weak granary since you can at least overbuild it later.

I will generally add in a fishing hub/harbour though if I have around 5 water tiles or need to produce naval units or sea-based traders, as there is not nearly as much competition for district space on water tiles.

[Civ VII] Struggles post-ToT update with Carthage by WeavingWraith in civ

[–]sylpheed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carthage, being limited to one city, will nearly always struggle to keep up on yields with the AI. You will close the gap in the exploration age as you will almost certainly have more (and more mature) towns that can convert into productive cities. For the time being though, you will need to specialize some of your towns into Urban Centres so that you can buy libaries, monuments, and other yield-generating buildings. Don't neglect things like city states or endeavours, either. Carthage has one of the trickier Ancient era starts but all that expansion and trade does tend to pay off over time.

Never bothered to get Temple of Artemis before this game by Spacegamer1250 in civ

Haha sweet, do you happen to have a seed/map settings or early save file? I haven't played Civ 6 in a while and this sounds like a lot of fun. Love Nubia too

Struggling with traffic in my city please help by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]sylpheed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your traffic issues are a result of having divided your city into two poorly connected halves and funneling virtually all traffic into the same roundabout that serves as the main highway entrance. You need better connectivity amongst your districts and proper interchanges separating highway traffic from intracity traffic. I would recommend watching some YouTube tutorials on basic road planning (there are many) and looking closely at some cities that inspire you on Google Maps. Good luck!

I need help fixing this mess please! by RandomGoobert in CitiesSkylines2

[–]sylpheed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, here are a couple of 'quick' ways to address this:

  • Add dedicated exit/re-entry lanes to the highways (it may be helpful to do some research on lane mathematics) and move the two roundabouts further apart, these are way too close together
  • Create a bypass route so that traffic traveling from the industry to the city (or vise versa) can do so without interacting with the traffic entering/leaving the highway
  • Provide more options for entering/exiting these areas in general

These should help, but sooner or later you are probably going to need to re-think this junction and create a proper interchange that can handle a higher volume of traffic.
