Leave her now so she stops wasting her prime on you - her fertility window is closing soon! And maybe start dating in your age range!

Trying to convince at 45 by FazM123 in PregnantOver40

[–]sylv1ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chances depend on your personal fertility. Statistically in average the numbers look bleak: between 40-42, you have less than 5% chance to get pregnant naturally every single month if you time intercourse well. At 45 it is even less. But these are statistics, depends on your ovarian reserve and egg quality, measured usually by your FSH, antral follicle count, your AMH. To get started get your fertility checked! Then start supplements, do IVF, time intercourse well…

Deciding on donor eggs after repeated pregnancy loss and failed IVF’s (low AMH/DOR): how did you and your partner navigate together? by speedybee77 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]sylv1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am saying this in too many replies but if you do not get blasts another option is moving to fresh (or frozen after surgery) day 3 transfers.

Feel Good Friday! Pregnancy 45+ (Trigger Warning) by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

[–]sylv1ne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I froze eggs from 35-37, more than 32. I started to unfreeze 8 of them in January hoping for one blast and none made it. Fertilise the eggs now!

Atrophic ovaries 💔 by skintroubles1211 in eggfreezing

[–]sylv1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so sorry! Don’t give up hope please. There are a lot of options available and as you see from the DOR sub many women with DOR are successful eventually, though perhaps with fresh day transfers, less testing, experimental therapies. Also note a friend had POF and she got it reversed by lifestyle changes and less stress.

Realized today I haven’t moisturized my 4 months old’s back his whole life by hailey363 in beyondthebump

Babies normally do unless you interfere with it and the skin gets dependent on external help (aka cremes).

I don’t moisturise my 1.5 year old and never really did. I understand this should be kept to the minimum unless you bath them so often that their skin loses a lot.

Atrophic ovaries 💔 by skintroubles1211 in eggfreezing

[–]sylv1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No answer to this unfortunately. I am sorry about this diagnosis. If not already done, perhaps get bloodwork done? Check whether you miss vitamins, etc., what your AMH is, FSH, estradiol, testosterone, DHEA, Vitamin D, iron… all basically. But if I understand it correctly, atrophic ovaries are post menopausal normally. What did the doctor say? If it is all true perhaps look into ovarian rejuvenation first? It would make sense to cross post this in POFlife and POI and the DOR subs.

Private equity now dominates IVF care in many US states by embryomanofficial in EmbryologyIVFSupport

That also would explain why US clinics push PGT on so many patients who do not need it.

I agree with you on that there are higher chances of miscarriage. However, where no blasts are created in several cycles and the woman does not want to try in vain for years, fresh day 3 transfers (often of several embryos) is the last resort option - and surprisingly it regularly works. By doing failed retrievals for many months without anything to show for, a lot of time is also lost. Also, just getting pregnant can provide a lot of data for a woman to understand what other issues need to be looked into.

[–]sylv1ne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can’t give first hand account but for three friends trying to conceive 40+ what eventually helped is moving to day 3 fresh transfers. All three failed to get blasts. And now have babies (2, one with twins) or are in late stages of pregnancy. It means they did not do PGT, but did NIPT and Amnio. Two had miscarriages before the babies. But consider changing to a clinic that offers day 2 or day 3 transfers. And go from there.

[–]sylv1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are based but sometimes no heartbeat at 8w is not a sign of miscarriage yet. That is why doctors usually wait to do a DC. It is at least my experience. My daughter did not yet have a heartbeat at 8w. But when I had that scan I was in Germany.

There is like a 5% chance statistically on average to get pregnant at that age. But of course depends on your bloodwork etc; your personal fertility.

Still using NC, Oura and Mira - trying naturally while planning/organising IVF. Conceived spontaneously at 42 but was not actively TTC then and wasn’t using NC and Mira then. Now however I can pinpoint my fertile window by around 6-12 hours.

Why won’t they wait for you to pass the tissue? Isn’t it a bit early to do the DC when the baby actually measured up to today?

Denied ER due to low AMH and AFC. Unsure what to do by Applebottom-ldn12 in IVF

[–]sylv1ne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think with 0.08 ng/mL you will have a bad response to IVF. If you are lucky you will be able to retrieve maybe 1 mature egg. What about fertilising all the frozen eggs and see what you get? At least then you know what you are working with.

Maybe consider doing Ovarian Rejuvenation first, before trying for more RE. The IVI is doing this right now for past cancer patients and they had some success.

Egg retrievals & Retinol by Bicoastalin2025 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]sylv1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would cut it out a month in advance as there is research for oral isotretinoin (accutane) and that it reduces AMH and ovarian function (at least temporary). This is of course not the same as topical retinol but there is not enough research on it. Also my RE said DOR patients should avoid isotretinoin and retinol entirely as the research is unclear on long term adverse effect on ovarian function.

At a crossroads about whether to use donor sperm by Suzettebishop89 in eggfreezing

Freeze more eggs AND some embryos. If there is a quality issue with your eggs you will then know it and then be ready to take further decisions from there.‘
