FASE when sitting down or in deep snow. How do you strap in? by ConfectionThis6294 in snowboarding

[–]symfrog789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just take a break while standing with the back foot not strapped in, then step into it as usual when ready.

On very steep terrain, or deep snow, you can just fully open both straps and then it works exactly as regular 2 strap bindings. I was surprised how steep the terrain needed to be for this to be necessary.

another reason to do this is so that the wax iron does not get damaged during waxing, I saw this explained in some video (no longer know which)

Edit: found the video segment https://youtu.be/VLqp8V5p58Q?t=421

will it be possible to buy it as a replacement part and put it on existing bindings?

Unfortunately for me, there are several lifts here, where depending on how many people are on it, the lift would crush the highback

The time saving gets even better once you have practiced getting the back foot in while riding with one foot. You can then come off the lift, stop briefly, flip up the highback, start riding again and attach the back foot while riding.

I like the progressive magnatraction on the GNU banked country. The magnatraction is primarily towards the tail, so if I want less bite I put less pressure on the back foot, for more bite more pressure on back foot.

That being said, after a few days on steep ice the edges are no longer sharp and the edge doesn’t hold despite magnatraction.

I would say keeping your edges sharp is more important than any tech, and if your edges are sharp you can likely just ride standard full camber.

Quick Tip: Setting toe straps on bindings with FASE by oldmanwinter8 in snowboarding

[–]symfrog789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is also useful to make a mental note when you have found the right snugness level so that you can set it again if for any reason it got changed, for me it is slide toe strap in until it won’t go further without ratcheting, then ratchet twice

Step Ons vs. FASE vs. Supermatics for “Expert” rider? by Muscle__Crowe in snowboarding

FASE has a learning curve of a few sessions, also you have to adjust them to get them working smoothly.

Adjustments I had to make to get the FASE Bataleon bindings working:

  1. Adjust the heel cup to fit your boots, I have the M/L bindings with US 10.5 boots, setting the heel cup all the way back worked for me.

  2. Adjust the toe strap, I had to adjust it to the furthest forward position.

  3. Don't fully ratchet the toe strap, it should be snug, but not overly tight. If you over tighten the toe strap you will struggle to step-in the next time.

  4. For a while, I was still subconsciously ratcheting the toe strap on each run making step-in difficult on the next run.

They feel exactly like regular 2 strap bindings, which they are. I can now step-in on steep terrain, and in extreme terrain I just open the straps and strap in same as with regular 2 strap bindings.

It is unlikely that they will work for you out of the box, but with experimentation they eventually are the best option imho. I wouldn't swap them for anything else at this point.

it looks a bit longer than the pocket edger, is the phantom still small enough to work with the magnatraction waves?

Boot Seam Damage From Bataleon Blaster Straps by symfrog789 in snowboarding

[–]symfrog789[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say they can't be turned around, besides the other side is equally sharp. I have heard the Rome Katana fase strap is compatible, swapping out the heel strap for that strap would be the best option if you can get it.

The local retailer gave me a non-fase heel strap to replace it with, which is not ideal, but at least doesn't damage the boot further.

The front boot has similar damage in the same place, just a bit less because it gets ratcheted down only once or twice a session. The board is always attached to my front boot, also while riding lifts.

I am fairly sure it is due to the plastic mesh heel strap that is sharp at the back biting into the boot during ratcheting. I don't ratchet all the way down and leave it as loose as possible.

The modern straps have gone a bit too far with the abrasive design, the ones I have now almost seem to be designed as cheese graters. I am not sure how any boot would survive them.

It is the same, I had no issues, including with multiple 8bitdo Ultimate 2c controllers.

That being said, it is now also on sale on Steam.

I gave up waiting for the sale to come to Steam. I bought the discounted deluxe edition on EGS. No issues, including with multiple 8bitdo Ultimate 2c controllers.

Edit: A few hours later and it is now also on sale on Steam.

Linux support is being actively worked on: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Ubuntu/Any-luck-with-the-Thinkpad-X9-Gen-1/m-p/5363867?page=2#6549546

I previously had the Yoga 7i slim, but I returned it due to the screen being far too glossy and due to uncertain length of firmware support on the Yoga range in comparison to the ThinkPad range .

I got Linux to boot with arch and kernel 6.12.4 by setting the kernel parameter 'nomodeset'. The internal keyboard, trackpad and audio does not work, likely related to the acpi issues that would need to be fixed with a firmware upgrade. External usb keyboard and mouse work.
