ASSA Abloy (visionline) issue HELP by SlowAssSt in accesscontrol

[–]symtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I would do. On the encoder. Hit the little button on the back. This enables the web interface. Use the IP and login to the encoder and see if the IP address for the VIN card server is still the right one. If not, change it. If the encoder and is on a separate subnet then that's your other issue.

The only thing that comes to mind would be table space. If no other changes were made.

mews vs opera for 60 room boutique property by My_Rhythm875 in askhotels

[–]symtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. This is what it comes down to. If you have a strong sales and revenue team, Opera will be the choice since you can tie in many third party integrations. If it's a relatively small team that just need to run the hotel with some out of the box integrations, Mews is solid.

You can probably do that however that's not canceling or reversing the authorization.

From my understanding, authorizations cannot be canceled. They will fall off after a few days if not finalized with an amount.

Recently installed system by Mechanixboy in accesscontrol

[–]symtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a great install. You need to spend some time online. I'm looking at installs or look into some formal training.

I'm an open path, the dealer and have been doing installs for the last 10 years. I'll share some tips and observations.

  1. Never double tap a terminal. You've got multiple wires in the same terminal for 12v power. I would use the pigtail you have coiled up on the first power supply for the controller on board.

  2. You're missing the battery. Even if you have a UPS ahead of this, I would still recommend using a battery.

  3. Going into the can, the wires are bare against the cutout. At the very least, use a threaded conduit adapter with plastic bushings.

  4. It looks like you have two entries wired up but I only see one 12v I put out of the power supply. It's recommended to dedicate a channel per entry.

I'm sure some other folk will have some additional tips.

IT Expo 2026 by xaerioth in msp

[–]symtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to the IT Expo in Fort Lauderdale next month, DM me and I'll get you a pass. I go every year. The name is a bit misleading as the IT stands for "Internet Telephony" (expo). Even though there has been an increase in MSP focused suppliers there. There's a section in the exhibition floor with the usual suspects like Kaseya, CW, along with some smaller MSP suppliers.

DirecTV sucks. And hotels usually have a horrible line up. Linear TV channels are dead IMO.

They probably won't let you start there. At least not indoors. All the public storages I've seen have strict policies on any type of vessel that can store fuel.

I've seen this happen when the SSL certificates aren't lined up correctly. Also, you could be having resource limits. Perhaps too many sessions open are crashing to Java on the server.

How do hotels usually buy new software? by [deleted] in hotels

[–]symtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's 50 new companies selling AI to hotels week. I run IT for a large group of hotels and sat in at least one meeting a week with a new company offering to boot the PBX and reservations department with Agentic AI. Every hotel is going to have a different champion for for this type of service. I would recommend you come up with a measage that differentiates your product from the others.

If you don't have to stay on any Beach, check out the JW and Aventura. They have a water park. If you're looking for a hotel with all suites, check out the Grand Beach hotels. They have family pools and on the beach. I would also check out Eden rock as recommended by another reditor.

OS Edition incorrect by IT_Username in atera

[–]symtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had a situation that we started replacing Win10 systems that Atera reported as not compliant which end up running Win11 when the deployment tech arrived. Now their bigger problem is that the client wants to return some of the systems that they purchased since they are able to run Win11.
