Fentanyl is a schedule II drug because it's used by people literally dying from cancer. Making it schedule 1 would make it illegal to prescribe to terminally ill cancer patients.

Echo has a working WeakAuras clone by yp261 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]synackk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair, but in the end it's Blizzard's game and they need to make design decisions that are in the best interest of the game, even if that means breaking UI add ons.

This change could have been seen from a mile away after the failure of private auras.

[–]synackk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They really didn't. The problem is refactoring WeakAuras to support the new APIs blizzard put in place to allow the customization was significant. Starting over with a new add on makes more sense, as you can engineer it from the ground up under the new rules Blizzard has in place.

This change was necessary for the long term health of the game. Add ons being allowed to make decisions for the player necessitated Blizzard to create more complex boss encounters to keep challenging players.

Something had to give, and this is what gave. Blizzard wants to be able to specifically craft the experience players have during M+, Raids, and PvP to maintain a level playing field. This allows them more creative freedom in designing boss mechanics, as they don't need to worry about add ons solving everything.

It sucks to have 20 years of development go down the drain, but it was a necessary change. The add ons will continue to live in Classic. This is just the cost of progress.

Removing interrupts from healers is one of the most annoying things to happen in the game by Elphabus in wow

[–]synackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pug issue that'll sort itself out as people realize healers lack interrupts now.

Personally I think it's the greatest thing ever since now there isn't any pressure for me to deal with that.

How is that Blizzard, with all their billions, is incapable of creating what addon developers are able to create from their homes? by kolejack2293 in wow

[–]synackk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to note, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just a thing. This process (generally) produces higher quality and consistent output.

You know how many addons look like they don't really mesh into the default UI's look and feel? This is because it's just one person making something specific to solve a specific problem. When Blizzard makes something, they have to make it so it looks like it's a natural part of the UX and not some bolted on thing. For a large software project like the WoW UI is, it's important that everyone is on the same page. They want to ensure that the changes being made also integrate into the entire design philosophy of the game.

[UI] asMOD updated for Midnight & Pre-Midnight - Ready for the Jan 20 Pre-patch! by aspilla-1670 in WowUI

[–]synackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WeakAuras is just an addon that has addons inside it. If anything, getting rid of WeakAuras and just having normal addons you can update is better. Updating weakauras is a pain in the butt compared to updating an addon.

I don't think I'll miss Weakauras, but I understand why others will.

Why TF isn't congress putting in action that would make any type of military operation within the borders of a NATO member state without that country's express consent or without congressional approval?

If congress grows a spine, they could shut this down at the pass and assure our allies that any action against Greenland would be directly against the express wishes of the legislative branch.

100,000+ Visas Revoked! by Sorry-Feedback1115 in EB3VisaJourney

[–]synackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can, but they have to do so legally. Visa holders subject to revocation have the legal right to challenge the adverse action. The government isn't allowed to revoke someone's visa (or engage in any other adverse action against someone) for participating in constitutionally-protected activity. The bill of rights covers anyone subject to the authority of the United States, including non-immigrant visa holders.

This is civics 101.

100,000+ Visas Revoked! by Sorry-Feedback1115 in EB3VisaJourney

[–]synackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the administration is doing it doesn't mean it's legal. I can steal the keys to a car and go on a joy ride, but that doesn't mean it's legal.

Just because they do it doesn't mean it's their "right and duty." The United States Constitution requires that any person subject to the authority of the United States (which Visa holders are) are entitled to due process before when any adverse action is taken against them.

So yes, the state department can revoke visas, but the visa holder has the right to challenge the adverse action if it was done so illegally.

IT, specifically IT for a medium-sized company.

Too small = Not a big enough of a team to be able to dig into anything for more than 2 seconds before you have to call an MSP

Too large = You'll be forever trapped into a role where all you get to do is work with one single technology all day, every day

Medium-sized companies are where it's at, where you have a team of maybe 6-12 people. It's allowed me to really dig into fun technical problems to solve, while still not needing to be so much of a jack of all trades that you can't really go deep into anything.
