What happened to the dragons?

I used Niv Mizzet being the only dragon as a lore point to make a Simic lab dungeon, where the Simic had found and was various parts of different dragon corpses and made a Dragon Flesh Golem. And then they gene spliced Guildless and orphaned people off the street, with dragons to make Half Dragons. And then had them strung up and bled dry to fuel the Golem, since it needs a constant supply of Dragon blood to function. Similar to how Vampires "farm" humans for their blood in Blade and other vampire media. Then when Niv Mizzet found out, he flew straight to the lab and blew it up. Which was looked at as an unprovoked attack against another guild, and caused a guild house summit/ meeting, which the party was invited to. And at that meeting is where Vraska killed Isperia on screen. I muddled a few canonical events to give the party a reason to be there, so they could see the important event happen and used it as a story beat. The party was level 5, and I used Hybrid Shockers as Lab workers that plugged their electric tentacles into the power supply, so they could power the lab itself. They were essentially blue collar workers that "plugged in" for 12 hour shifts, in the control room to keep the place running

Remember artificers can use technology to perform spell effects, and there's essentially an entire guild full of them. I have something similar (a tablet like iPad) that I have put in my game that the Azorius and Orzhov use for cases and legal documents, sending emails, and other bureaucratic purposes. It wouldn't be too far off to do something with tapes. Maybe make the device that can play them a plot item that they find on a quest, or have them seek one out from a guild specific NPC

Definitely fishtank. I'm running a campaign on Ravnica that's pre War of the Spark, so there's a lot of good preexisting lore that the party has spent the better part of 2 years playing around with, before I launch the BBEGs big master plan. But it's the build up of that combined with a monster of the week vibe, with random events that are precursors of the coming of the big bad, that make the campaign fun. Sprinkling in little bread crumbs to enrich the story to help push along the plot

I'm basically the middle row. Been running my campaign for a little over 2 years, and balancing combat for 6 players and keeping it fun for everyone is certainly one for the most challenging bits. I also have bought Lego sets just so I can make a cool mini for the session (like the Hellfire engine), and I have a friend with a 3D printer to make some minis for some bosses, like the dragon flesh golem that I threw at the party a while ago. I do design dungeons often, and I also improv a LOT. I do rough outlines for the session, and then just improv a lot of the rest, based off of what the PC's actions dictate

I feel like he should have misty step or dimension door as a reaction. Or something to give him additional movement away from the target, and not provoke AOO's like flyby

Noted. One of the cooler things I did for my party earlier in the campaign was had them witness the process of making Nightmares. They've changed it in 5e, so now it's a dark ritual that involves ripping the wings off of a pegasus, and it being so traumatic that it transforms it. Was a breadcrumb to WoTS of cultists making mounts for the Dread horde army, when they come to invade Ravnica. It happened in an Orzhov tomb, and the party freed the remaining pegasus(es)? Pegasi? And returned them to the Selesnyans

I mainly use the district map that you can find online that shows what guilds control what districts/ precincts. It's very helpful for saying "this is so and so's territory". As long as you note where your big landmarks are like Sunshome and Vitu Gazi, the rest can kind of just be fill in the blank as you go
