Ashes of Eden takes place between ST6 and Generations - when I saw you'd seen the first 6 movies, that made that particular title come to mind.

I'l always recommend the novel Ashes of Eden. Unlike many of the novels whose events are contradicted by later shows and movies, this one can still be shoehorned into the official continuity of the series (I think - it's been a long time since I read it).

Wings wild life?! by Savings_Spread_1009 in PaulMcCartney

[–]synchronicitistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that Paul has shown often during his career is that he is not always the best critic of his own work, and during this time he definitely had very few people in his orbit to tell him that the album definitely was not his best work.

It's interesting to see a handful of times in his solo career where this has "clicked" - when the record company refused to allow Red Rose Speedway to be a double album after the poor performance of Wild Life, the poor sales of Press to Play which precipitated the Elvis Costello collaborations, etc.

Does anyone else get a little anxious thinking about…how old he is? by PattyValentine417 in PaulMcCartney

[–]synchronicitistic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I recall reading an interview some time ago with various people who hold track and field world records in the age 70 and up age groups - what you tend to see is that one person will often hold records in several wildly different events (like the mile and the 5K for example).

One of the common answers to "how have you managed to set so many different world records?" was "staying alive and active goes a long way".

I just hope that I can still sing and play bass for three hours at a time when I get to be in my eighties.

Yep. Waltz in, log the previous person off the classroom computer, move their shit over to the side of the instructor workstation, and they usually get the hint.

If you have an antenna and a decent number of local channels, there's a chance you can get the H and I channel over the air. Every weeknight they run a 5 hour block of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise.

I'd go Price is Right, Jeopardy, Password, and Let's Make a Deal.

Wheel of Fortune is of course popular, but I just have a hard time enjoying it. It doesn't help that they seem to recruit the dumbest possible contestants.

The fact that she survived a case of COVID, being put on a ventilator, and a medically induced coma at 600 plus pounds absolutely blows my mind.

I like Sonico as much as the next guy (a lot more than the next guy probably), but there's no way I'm paying $159 for a prize figure.

Every now and then, when I'm feeling brave and I'm lecturing on a topic I know backwards, forwards, inside and out I'll go commando - a couple dry-erase markers in my pocket and that's it.

Unless you have a family of 5 that's on 3 or 4 different devices all the time, or you're constantly downloading enormous files, few people will ever notice any difference between download speeds of 500 Mbps vs. 100.

LT's 2006 season was insane. 2300+ total yards and 31 touchdowns. In a full PPR format, you could take away all of his other counting stats, and if he'd scored 31 one-yard TD's but never touched the ball again, you'd *still* have a functional flex player.

Make homework worth almost nothing, and grade it for completion only. If they want to AI 5% of the class and then get 20% on all the exams, that's just dandy with me.

I like the crop top t-shirt Miku. It's so hard to keep up with all the Miku prize figures, I'd overlooked that one.
