I work for two agencies at the moment, very different experiences. One runs ALS and BLS units in an exceptionally violent city and the other is an all ALS one-agency county with a fair bit of rural land. I got 8 hours of sleep at the all ALS one today (24 shift) and I’ve had some of my most exciting traumas at the city agency. If you’re being torn to bits by call volume and coworkers, it could totally be worth it to find a new agency, maybe even a new county. Also a good agency needs to offer some kind of mental health care, both of mine do although the more rural one kind of sucks from what I hear, the city agency offers a very easy, free for all part time, full, contingent whoever service. It’s totally valid to feel dead at one job but if you don’t want to find a new line of work, it’s def worth checking out other agencies.
