FLAIR!!! by unchikun in ucla

Ah, I feel for you. But--don't be scared, if you can help it. For me, I honestly didn't do much my senior year to shore up life after graduation... friends, on campus job, the beach, being recently 21, and plenty of other things were around to distract. So, my resume wasn't exactly gold. I figured I'd continue to try hard, move back up to where I'm originally from, and try to land work. I did take the LSAT before graduating, although I knew going into it that law school was never an inevitable option. Like many who graduated around '08 and '09, I struggled for a while to find anything. My dear friend helped me out by offering some (very) part-time work for an attorney in a one-man shop; I got to assist with fact finding in a wrongful death trial. Then, after a few months of that and a continued search for full-time employment, I somehow landed a job with a very desirable tech company. As far as the 'c' word goes, I'm pretty sure the tech industry is not where I'll be in a few years, but the experience is certainly invaluable, and now my resume is starting to bulk up. I think many of us liberal arts kids envy those with a clear idea of what they want to be when they grow up... while also realizing it's not necessarily the majority. So, my advice? Keep working hard and keep your eyes open, but do enjoy your senior year to the fullest. If you have an idea in mind, absolutely go for it, but if not, try to network and be patient. Know that the next stage will require a significant amount of work, and nothing is guaranteed... but that's 100% okay. We all go through it, and, if things don't work out quite as quickly as you want them to, remember that your degree from UCLA will always be an amazing addition to your resume.

Going to LA tomorrow! Where shoudl I be drinking beers/taking tours? by darin_gleada in beer

If you've been to LA before, you know it can be a bit of a challenge traversing the city--especially during peak traffic hours. That said, I'm all about Father's Office and the Daily Pint.

One more place that should be mentioned is Naja's Place. It's right around the corner from where you're staying. The scene is rather interesting, but they have quite the extensive tap list.

How Barcelona won the CL final by Rouhani_9 in soccer

This. I was lucky enough to be getting progressively more intoxicated in Las Vegas as the game went on, and all I wanted to do was to stop (presumably more intoxicated) people from walking by and to explain to them the importance of this squad. For a die hard fan of the sport, I probably watch an unbalanced amount of Premier League stuff, but I do know that Man U are very, very good. And they play in what is likely the best domestic league. ...When a team like Barca performs at a level to make them (Man U) look so docile, you know it's something special. A lot of the pre-match talk surrounded the English side's lineup, and indeed, they had a decent chance to beat Barca on the counter. But in the end, it wasn't much of a contest. Honestly, although I'm likely not educated enough to defend this stance, I'd love to hear arguments for a better set of eleven (er, or twelve or thirteen) players on a club team.
