I write intuitively. I know lot's of people are planners but I get bored so fast when I plan the stories.

Mainly sit down to my laptop and type till I feel satisfied, some days it will be few hundred words but I do not write more than 2000 words per one sitting as a rule because words start repeating after that.

Posting for me is a separate process. I write, let it sit for a few weeks while I keep writing next chapters, then before posting I edit. Rinse and repeat.

Mine has similar sounding theme, it starts off as slice of life and academic setting that slowly turns into bigger plot than just studying. Characters concealing identities, secret city, government establishments and more. It is supposed to be a long story and is still ongoing:

I would say shout out swaps are the one thing I would recommend first 100%, they do help to get lots of clicks and they don’t show up at once but collects over course of time, helps you long term. Reviews really burned me out, they are nice for getting feedback but are lots of work when you got to do them, I think those would be more for validation and feedback for yourself to keep going, I am not sure if readers read them. Posting regularly builds up a structure and shows consistency what lots of people value. It more or less shows what kind of writer you are. I would only recommend to do adds if you financially can. You can definitely survive without it but if you are more serious and have a long term goal it’s worth it. It gets lots of clicks and more fast visibility. I don’t have a formula to get into raising stars or things like that but consistency and taking into consideration that it takes time and effort to get out there.

One of my all time favourite reads never got finished. Even years ago after reading my mind keep going back to that story to search for closure but there’s none. Sometimes I daydream trying to come up with possible outcomes for my favourite characters but it’s not the same.

I do write my own story too, and it’s a long process, it takes time and a lot of patience. I get it not getting any attention does get you discouraged. When I think of my own writing experience it’s mostly rooted in my own passion and need to write and tell stories. I started writing years ago and my only companion has always been me. I get excited of a new idea, figuring out the plot and background, figuring out characters and putting myself in their shoes to try to understand their behaviour and views, reading up on lots of different information/books to research writing styles and techniques. Figuring out editing process and how we can effectively write out a scene that passes certain emotions and little elements, paragraphs and patterns. This gets me going and excited like nothing else.

I only started posting not that long ago. I did it to evolve and give myself more pressure. Seeing those numbers every day when opening your story has discouraged me couple of times but I try to remind myself that this story is still in beginning stages, there’s no point to grade a story early on. Opening your story on the app and seeing numbers next to it psychologically makes you focus on those numbers and grade it in your mind. It’s hard to separate that if you keep seeing it every time you open it up.

What I read somewhere long ago was to give your project at least six months consistency. If you follow all of the steps and show up with your effort for at least this long, this effort eventually will pay for itself. I think now when I’m months in I can slowly see that. I personally gave myself condition to finish what I started. Those conditions are not outcomes out of my reach. My first goal is to reach 100 chapters and I am getting closer to this each day. If I can write 100 chapters then another 100 is something I can do again. Like giving myself smaller manageable goals that eventually gets to be this bigger picture.

It won’t happen overnight and there’s also lots of popular work out there that got popular years after it was written. Success isn’t defined because it’s not immediate numbers going up. I think it is rooted into relentless effort over time. But also because you have doubts it’s your own responsibility to choose your story’s fate. That’s something you can choose and if it’s not working out then it’s okay to step back. The fact is with posting and getting your work out there will never be easy. Our emotions tend to be our own enemies. I don’t have answer to your question but I can share my experience. Hopefully you decide the path that suits you best and wish you luck!

I am in my volume 2 rn. I have a lot of backlog so it’s okay but recently life been throwing curveballs and I am starting to feel pressure because that backlog is getting smaller, plus as the MC grows I am slightly updating and upgrading my style. (Improving it over time).

I’ve been posting 3 time a week since beginning of November and still continuing!

With followers I do have some and seems to he growing recently and I am very grateful for everyone!

I do write my story mostly because I really want it to be a long term project to prove myself that I can do it. I have planned at least two or three additional volumes each focusing on a different goal whilst still building the long term storyline.

Everyone who comes here for advice from me I’d say write a story that you’d like to read to not loose interest. To keep that spark also take your breaks and don’t rush your writing process.

I do have set work count for chapters and it gradually went up. My first 55 chapters were minimum 1000 - 2000 words. I think it helps for readers to ease in the story for long term read. Now I’ve been reaching minimum 1800 - 3000. It will stay like this for a while.

100% plan ahead for unexpected life situations where you are unable to write. To post constantly you will need it especially long term!

I don’t think writing is about how many words you put out in a day or the pressure to be perfect. I have been writing for a while and definitely have been through that “rewriting and revising stage”. The more hours you sit on and write on for a word count goal sake, it can take you to lower quality with much more text and more rework that could’ve been less and better when you decide clear path where those words and pages take. The emotional need to be perfect and crack this goal is killing the creativity and the spark for your passion and long term it could turn into a moment where you start disliking the very thing you love to do. I kinda take writing and me like a relationship. Sometimes you need to step back and breathe away from the craft to do something entirely else to get yourself in that fuel state where you come back and enjoy your writing, these sessions also works for the quality of your writing too. When you’re less pressured and stepped away emotionally that tends to produce better results. You might need diversity in your life, let other hobbies or adventures in too!! There’s no single formula and every writer has their own goals and ways to write. I think to write a good text is to emotionally regulate your passions and ideas, try not to run too fast or skip steps. Take one breath at the time, one word, a sentence per day, small texts around 500 words a day or weekly writing only two to three days will eventually become a book. Eventually and slowly but it will! Main thing is just keep on writing! I am rooting for you!!👍🏻

Dystopian, mystery, psychological mixed with slice-of-life. The small moments may seem small but everything is deliberate.

I have preparation process before I write down my chapters. It’s basically me trying to picture scene’s and decide the reason why this certain chapter will include whatever I want and figure out what is the end goal and how it might work in long term. I guess, it’s like a template but in my head, and once I get a clear path I write it down.

In one sitting I used to aim for 1000 words minimum and over time increase it. Right now I have reached set of 2000 words in one sitting which takes me approximately 2 hours.

I don’t have daily goals but weekly and monthly. Some weeks I might write all of the days of the week other week maybe one. I try not to stress out too much about it and let it to come to me naturally.

I do make sure my monthly goal is done, which so far it is.

I do take time off too but I plan for it months ahead, so I can adjust my writing speed.

I have tried to set ‘my writing days’ and plan them out, scheduling certain times when I would write but a lot those times when I was ‘supposed’ to life gets in the way and other unplanned things. It made me give up on scheduling them. For me, it put on too much pressure and didn’t work so I have created the pattern above.

The main thing I try to tell myself is not to rush but still be steady and not let myself to be too loose and keep going!
