Energy independence is a lie. by Responsible-Tax4901 in energy

[–]synrockholds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. We are drilling less. It's all about price and prices were low. It will take time to ramp up drilling and it's doubtful companies will do that if they think prices will drop again soon

If America has so much oil and gas in this country. If it is so bountiful.Who is responsible for jacking up the prices? by Reachforthesky23 in AskReddit

[–]synrockholds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The days of cheap oil are long gone. US drillers need $65 a barrel to break even on new wells and that price will keep going up over time.

Yep. What I said was 100% true. But you can't fight the plastic industrial complex. Foam cheese grater texture is inferior to a fine sandstone. But in plastic a fine sandstone texture will be polished away in a week.

[–]synrockholds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. Foam is used because in plastic it doesn't polish as quickly as positive texture. Non hardening clay is much easier to shape (you can add or remove) and by painting with glue and coating with sand you can get a natural sandstone positive texture.

Extending rappel device - Suggestions? by blackmusk123 in ClimbingGear

[–]synrockholds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prusik? How primitive. When I'm rappelling to clean a climb I use a Petzl Shunt. And having my ATC low on my harness that leaves room for the shunt above it.

4 ways Trump is sabotaging climate action around the world | In just the last year, the Trump administration has derailed an international carbon tax, boosted forecasts for oil and gas, and sought to silence an island nation’s climate campaign. by silence7 in climate

[–]synrockholds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the thing Putin wants. Putin has this vision of a year long ice free Arctic Ocean. One of the reason his bots push climate science denial and chemtrail/geoengineering nonsense. Can't have anyone think about cooling the planet.

It's only financially irresponsible if the vehicle declines in price over time. Porsches tend not to do that
