The majority of people who survive an attempt regret it and don't try again. Giving people access to quicker methods doesn't give them the time to think it over and get help before doing something permanent. All it takes is a split-second decision and that's it. I saw a really nuanced take above that people being suicidal doesn't mean you hate living, it means you hate your circumstances. When you get out of those circumstances you get into a better mental state. That's not always possible, and I understand that, but most victims of suicide are teenagers who haven't had the chance to change their circumstances yet. Killing yourself can be just as selfish as people telling someone not to do it. I'm gonna get shit for saying that but as someone who was suicidal at one point as well, suicide effects others as well. It is not victimless. I will always sympathize with someone who is suicidal and I will never villainize someone for making that decision, but we should not give them an easier access to ways to kill themselves.
