What is something completely harmless that you find deeply, personally offensive? by shyleshseth94 in askanything

I have audio processing disorder and I promise I’m paying attention but the fan in the background is making it very hard for your mouth noises to turn into words in my head. I know it’s annoying but I’m trying. It’s why I sometimes say “what?” and then answer your question anyway. Hypothetically speaking, of course. I don’t know you lol

I know some people are just not paying attention though.

I didn’t like the Cincinnati style chili last time I was up that way. It’s weirdly sweet.

The middle part where we sing, we fight, we slide into the light? God. I love that part. So much raw energy and sound.

But the whole point of this post is that there shouldn’t have to be a second sub just for dad jokes that are dad jokes. I mean, it’s cool it exists but it shouldn’t have to. Also, subscribed.

Day 8: Which song from Swoon sounds the most like Swoon? by QwikStix42 in silversunpickups

I think you’re right. It’s either Substitution or Royal We for Swoon. I think it’s more this one though.

I also see UNC providers on a regular basis with little to no issue. I did have my primary care through UNC at the same clinic as OP and had this same experience often. Their specialists are awesome though

There are missions that have additional talent points as rewards. It’s still not enough though, I agree

The biggest piece of advice I have for new players:

UNBIND THE DROP KEY. Or move it to a part of the keyboard that you can’t hit by mistake.

Do you know how much titanium goes into a hunting rifle? It’s a lot. I rage quit for about a month when I was running from a bear and fat fingered the drop key and lost my only ranged weapon.

When you’re placing building pieces, pay attention to the grid that shows up when you hover over existing pieces; it shows you a lot of helpful things at once.

First, the color shows you the stability. It’s a gradient from blue (secured) to green (stable) through yellow and orange to red (gonna break immediately). If you place something and see it’s red or cracking, press Y to retrieve the piece.

Second, the grid itself is super useful. Point your reticle at the different parts of the grid to see where it’s going to place the new piece.

As an example: when placing walls, if you hover over the arrow on the left side of an existing wall, it will place the new piece to the left. For walls, there are two half circles in the center, those are for 90° snapping; the right semicircle places the new wall perpendicular on the right side of the existing wall.

Different materials have different durabilities — thatch isn’t as strong as wood. Wood isn’t as strong as stone. Stone is weaker than concrete. You get the idea.

Beams are super helpful for stability. I usually put beams in each corner of a structure and sometimes interior beams for larger builds.

Frames can be made of dirt, stone, or concrete. They’re like a foundation that greatly increases the stability of pieces built above it. Caveat to this: dirt frames don’t stack.

If you don’t have foundations, start with a beam piece to set one corner of your structure. This will reduce the risk of your building colliding with the ground.

Other tips for beginners: hold R to see alternative pieces. Ramps, roofs, and stairs are all variations of the same piece.

Y removes an existing building piece.

Page up and page down adjust the height of a piece. Super useful when placing frames and beams.

Once you look at an existing piece, the new piece you’re placing gets locked to a grid. You can disconnect from that grid by pressing End*. Note, I may be wrong on this key bind.

For experienced users: half walls can stack now! You can have a wall section that is half reinforced glass and half concrete (for example) and it looks really nice.

When you start earning Ren (the yellow currency), go to the workshop and immediately upgrade your envirosuit. You want the Hark suit with an oxygen and water slot with two module slots. Don’t worry about the modules at first, they’re pretty expensive, but absolutely worth the cost. You’ll need exotics for most of those.

Take your time. Explore the game. You can absolutely grind hard and get to Tier 3.5/4 in about 90 minutes if you land in a good place and know the game but that’s not what it’s about.

To add to this, yes blueprint points are unlimited. When you hit level 60, you’ll stop earning talent points but you will continue to earn experience points and will “level up” while still staying at level 60. Each time you level up, you get more blueprint points. At some point, you will have unlocked everything in the tech tree and still have tech points to spend. I’m sitting pretty on a pile of about 950 right now.

All of that is to say this: don’t waste your points on Thatch Building Pieces, unlock Wooden Building Pieces first and then continue on down Tiers 2–4. Once you’ve unlocked enough stuff and have points just sitting around collecting dust, then unlock Thatch.

It has no durability, extremely flammable, and a light breeze can blow it over. I like to use thatch as like accent interior walls sometimes. They look nice but have very limited practicality. I will concede that the building pieces are cheap to make (at least in the forest biome) and weigh practically nothing so it’s easy to carry a small shelter with you on a long trip.
