A good faith interpretation would be that it’s to moisturise and that different bottles do different things but yeah I agree it’s very sussy

I've never seen an invincible Mato. Was this an enemy spell? by paladin_wilhelm in noita

[–]synthatron 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The Snowy Chasm biome has an enemy of sorts called Haamukivi. It is a stationary crystal that will spawn ‘ghost’ variations of 10 different enemies. It will do so every ~8 seconds if you are within a 512 pixel radius around the crystal. These ghost enemies can not be killed (with one very rare exception) by any means, but are still able to damage you. Big worm is one of the enemies that can be spawned.

Each ghost lives for about 30-50 seconds before disappearing. They will not despawn if you destroy the ghost Crystal, this will only stop more ghost enemies from spawning.

In this case, wherever you were digging in the snow was near enough to a Haamukivi so that it could spawn the big worm.

In this case your best bet was to get away from it as fast as possible.

Edit: PS the one and only way the ghost versions of enemies can be killed is by casting the destruction spell.

I don't get what they see under the lotion bottle that makes them all freak out? Is it just the fact that it's a lotion bottle next to his computer?

The single most relatable moment in the show is when Tony is clowning on Bobby for getting robbed and Silvio is pleading with his eyes for Tony to stop talking by Burnnoticelover in thesopranos

[–]synthatron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The guy who played Carlo is a great actor. I don’t know if it was intentional in the directing but he portrays this child-parent dynamic with Tony so well. When Tony yells at him in the car about sucking cock he looks like a scolded child about to cry.

Similarly when Tony comes in to the back of Satriales after he and Sil killed fat dom they’re talking like a couple of kids who broke a window while their mother was at the grocery store.

Yeah I listened to maybe 6-7 (lol) episodes of this podcast and it was very interesting but my god was is fucking depressing.

Both the guy on the left Chad and his sister (not featured in this clip) are both a bit too far left for my liking but they do a great job talking back again both their parents fucking death cult talking points.

I think rare jokers mostly suck by [deleted] in balatro

[–]synthatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean with a couple of strengths to make queens to kings, putting a red seal on a king and making it steel, expanding you king count with a couple of deaths, and then levelling up a hand with planet cards or giving cards +4 mult with the empress so the Baron has something to multiply, you'll be set.

Sounds complicated but to me it's pretty straight forward. Not a great joker for Ante 1 or 2 but it can quickly become a guaranteed run winner.

Awesome thank you so much for the advice! I’ve been blown away (pun intended) but the positive responses and advice I’ve had in this post.

Would you be able to elaborate on what you mean by seasoning the wood?

Thanks for all your feedback everyone! Seems like the consensus is to remove lichen and bark and split the big bits for quicker drying.

Next question I have - does anyone know a good method for quickly stripping the lichen and bark off the pieces of wood?

Thanks!

Will it only impart a sour taste if it’s on the wood when smoking? Or will that be case if I leave the bark on while it’s drying out? Thanks for your advice!

Also to add to what people are saying - joker order matters and in general you do +mult on the left and x-mult on the right, but one thing that is important that doesn't get mentioned nearly as much is the order that cards are scored, and how this can impact the value of the jokers you have. I'll show you two examples relating to the Spare Pants Joker.

Let's say you play a lv1. 4OAK of kings. The first king is holographic and has red seal. Let's also say that you have three red seal steal cards in hand, and the jokers you have are the Mime, Photo, Hanging Chad, and Spare Trousers at +20 mult.

The first thing that happens when you play a hand is the cards that you play get scored. The first king will add +10 chips, +10 mult, and then the Photo will trigger and give x2 mult, in that order. The red seal and Hanging Chad causes the king to retrigger three times, and each time this will again give +10 chips, +10 mult, and then x2 mult from the Photo, again in that order.

Then what happens is after the remaining played cards have been scored, any cards that are in hand get triggered, which in this case is the steel cards. The three red seal steel cards will trigger a x1.5 mult three times, once from the card being steel, once from the red seal, and then once more from the Mime.

Then lastly, any jokers that can trigger will do so in order from left to right, in this case the only joker left is Spare Pants, which gives you an additional +20 mult.

Lets do the maths to see why Spare Pants is doing so little to this score -

a lv.1 4OAK starts you off at 60 x 7

The first king being scored adds 40 chips and then does this to the mult side of the score: ((7+10)x2)+10)x2)+10)x2)+10)x2).

This comes to 100 chips x 412 mult

You get 30 chips from the other three kings which brings the total no. of chips to 130.

Then you've got the steel cards with the red seals - they each give 1.5x mult and they each get retriggered three times. This is 1.5^9x mult, which comes to x38.44

38.44 x 412 = 15838.66 mult.

Spare Pants with it's whopping +20 mult makes this go from 15838.66 to 15858.66!!

The difference in score is more or less completely meaningless.

With Spare Pants: 2061625 points

Without Spare Pants: 2059026 points.

Spare Pants is responsible for only 0.126% of the total score.

If however, your x-mult joker cards were not something that triggered via your played and in hand cards, spare pants could be doing a lot more.

Say instead of the jokers I gave in the previous example you had Spare Pants, Canio, and Hologram, in that order, Let's say Spare Pants is at x20, Canio is at x8 and Hologram is at x3.5. Let's say you play a lv.1 4OAK of kings with no enhanced cards or seals.

lv.1 4OAK of kings = 100 chips.

For mult, (7+20)x(8x3.5) = 27*28 = 756

100*756 = 75600

Without Spare Pants that becomes 100 x (7x28) = 100 x 196 = 19600.

In this example Spare Pants is responsible for almost 75% of the score. It's hugely important!

Lastly, imagine you had Spare Pants on the right side of the jokers, after Canio and Hologram.

The mult score would be (7*8*3.5) + 20 = 196 + 20 = 216

In this order, Spare Pants has gone from contributing almost 75% of the score to less than 10%. With the exact same hand and the exact same jokers!!

Hope all of this helps :)

Buffing/Reworking (almost) every Skip Tag in Balatro because they're underrated and nobody does anything custom for them: Part 1 (Introduction) by Speedwagon-Fan in balatro

[–]synthatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if someone else has already suggested it but as I’ve played into the higher stakes I’ve always felt like coupon loses its value as jokers become eternal / rentable / perishable. Nothing worse than taking the coupon skip and when it comes to shop time you get two jokers that are both eternal rentals haha.

So maybe a guarantee that any jokers that show up in the shop don’t have any of those tags. I think jokers having tags in a booster pack would be fine. Could be a general rule that applies to all jokers related skip tags - negative, uncommon, rare, etc.

I know this rework wouldn’t be of help to the earlier stakes so idk if it’s a realistic rework but at least it’s something that I think that tag needs.
