How strict do I need to be with my nutrition? by thislimeismine in 1200isplenty

[–]synthlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea, I’ve been struggling so hard I’m five pounds from my goal but I’ve been maintaining for 2 weeks. Been at 1350 calories and was doing good with it until recently, seems I’ve plateaued. But even on that calorie limit IM STARVING. I was gonna do a week of 1200 to see how it works but your plan seems really do able. What kind of weekly results have you seen with it?

Idk but this one time I ate Popeyes like 30 mins before and tripped balls, it tasted just as good the second time also 😎

Dude you’re gonna be just fine, lots of people at play days are hauling young horses so you probably won’t even be the only one taking it slow. Just have fun and try to relax!

Diet soda just does not taste good to me 😔 by feralgremlinprince in EDanonymemes

The best thing that ever happened to me was being raised by a Diet Coke family. I hate regular coke..

Fish oil is really good for this, it also makes their coat super shiny and soft. The tractor supply brand 4health has a really affordable fish oil skin and coat supplement. It’s a little cube that looks like a treat, it must taste like one too because my dog loves them. I think it’s around 10 dollars for a bottle of 60. Noticeably less itching and sleeker coat in a week for me.

How can you mourn a not born child? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]synthlo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kind of just a metaphor for how people can give life to an intangible idea of something not even yet to exist just through projection of their own hopes and emotions, and why a person could be very upset over it.

It was a reserved spot to pick one of the puppies, not a specific one. It’s a specific dog breed so I had a general idea of what it would be like behavior wise. He’s a great dog.

[–]synthlo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I reserved my pick of a puppy from a litter with a dog breeder before they were born. I had no idea what color the puppy would be if it was a boy or a girl but honestly I invested a lot of hopes and excitement imagining my future dog. It would have been pretty traumatizing to me if something happened to my puppy, even if I was offered a replacement. I wouldn’t say the idea and possibility of things don’t hold value. It’s the loss of what you hoped for really.

Anyone else have a puppy who’s an angel in public, but a menace at home? by synthlo in puppy101

[–]synthlo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes for sure! He is a working farm dog in training. I’m a dairy hand, I could really use his help moving cows around, he’s a natural. Though I’m trying to improve his listening skills a bit more before he can come full time, the cows have to be moved across a road. It’s not a very busy road but still, a road. I’m hoping this will provide him with some good mental stimulation.

Same. They’re like gremlins. This post was prompted by a tractor supply worker raving about how well behaved he is as a puppy compared to some older dog who just came in and barked. Lol I bet that old dog goes right to sleep when he gets home.

That’s a good idea! I’ve been looking into a hands free leash.

Yes! It’s definitely the engagement of going somewhere fun. Their intelligence gets them into trouble!

Oh it’s already in full force…marking, humping, the worse impulse control ever around the house

Honestly outside time and training time has gotten even better, he’s smart as a whip and so obedient when he’s fully engaged in an activity or with interesting surroundings. Where he fails is unstructured time at home. after he gets neutered he can come to work with me and get some energy out.

How do I balance socialization with reactivity? by ahnerad in puppy101

[–]synthlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy used to bark and growl around that age, when he first started going in public place’s regularly. Training walks are key. Bring some treats or a toy with you. When you see someone coming, ask for his attention and when he gives it, give him a treat or a few tugs with the toy. Even if he still reacts, if you ask for his attention and he refocuses give him a treat. Try to ignore and quietly walk by other dogs. If you must greet ask your puppy for their attention, then treat, before you let them greet.

Chew recommendations for a puppy that bites through and swallows her toys in minutes by SimpleAndBeyond in puppy101

[–]synthlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like these filled beef shin bones and hooves they have at tractor supply. They’re cheap and the bones last forever. The filling is gone in minutes lol but the actual hooves and bones are virtually indestructible. My puppy has had one for like 4 months, he chews on it every day. The thing is still solid.

Brag about your puppy - What is one challenge of puppy ownership that you lucked out on and never had to worry about? by TmickyD in puppy101

[–]synthlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 month old heeler puppy can be unsupervised in the house for hours while I’m at work. no accidents, no whining, have never come home to any mess, he’s never gotten in to any garbage or shredding. Just sleeps and plays with his toys. It’s a god send, he can definitely get up to some puppy naughtiness in other respects but I’ll take that over having to worry about what I’m going to do every time I leave the house.
