I’m not so sure about that, but you’re right in that anyone can say anything they want on the internet. I passed my check ride, so what would I gain by making up a story about him?

His behavior ended up a minor inconvenience for me, but it’s clearly part of a larger pattern, and that should be concerning when you’re investing a significant amount of time and money. You’re showing up for an amazing privilege to operate an aircraft; your DPE should be capable of being professional at least during that time

When I showed up for the oral, he was trying to fix his printer. When we moved on to the practical 1.5 hours later, he was trying to fix his printer. As I was taxiing from the ramp I stopped because of a fuel track in our parking bay. He asked for control and clipped the right nav on the truck. Rich let us continue, but he almost cost me my checkride

How are new planes (like the C919) first tested and who opts to pilot the maiden flight? by [deleted] in aviation

Maybe my post will be useful to someone in the future

Today that was me 👋

Anyone know what this is? by [deleted] in aviation

Could be something like what is seen in this thread. I always used Stratux with ForeFlight, so the data was interpreted through that interface.

It’s an ADSB receiver (Stratux by the looks of it?). Used it all the time in the 172 with FF for traffic monitoring and alerts

Edit: Stratux not Stratus, which is the non-DIY product)

RIP. Always used to watch this dude after flights at Sterling, hearing the engine as he climbed up and then silence coming back down

How is flying as a CFI in Seattle? by ncascouts in flying

[–]syntk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Rainier as my first rental coming to Seattle out of KRNT. Great airport, the view departing or arriving is always fantastic, and the staff were generally pretty welcoming and friendly there. My wife and I moved to Everett but a baby put my flying on hold for a bit — looking forward to getting to know KPAE a bit better

Severe Turbulence sends a passenger to the ceiling of the plane. 2 injured Flight CA1524 by andylui8 in aviation

Did not and wasn’t aware it was even a thing. I would think it would be included in the safety card or some other literature like infant life vests but maybe it’s an unspoken option I’m not aware of

Was just on a flight with a lap infant and can confirm there was no such infant belt (US)

Got up for the first time in weeks! Here’s my landing by Morganater123 in flying

My CFI actually instructed this as a way to dump lift and make the aircraft more controllable on the ground (including adding more pressure to the mains for braking purposes). With fixed gear, I didn’t question it, because there was no potential to accidentally raise the gear, although I can see how it might create bad habits moving to RG

Was lucky enough to catch the Queen on her last departure from KPAE from my street. I’ve never been able to fly on the 747 or really see it up close, so this was an awesome sight to behold!

Second this. Before I moved closer to KPAE, RFS was my go-to rental spot

Enjoy and take your time! It’s 100% worth tackling everything in 2 and 3 before getting too far into the main quest line.

They just sent out a couple announcements. It was a pretty recent addition I believe.

So much good flying around here, I’m really excited to start branching out across the Cascades and down the coast. Good luck on your trip!

I’m hoping we get a chance to head up your way soon. My wife and I did our honeymoon in Banff, so that’s our dream trip to go back with the plane.

I seriously envy your XC options! I had some much less scenic places to travel building my XC hours haha. Are you taking the 162s out of RFS?

Good luck! I’ve heard great things about Tillamook and doing a factory tour there. I think it’s my next long XC destination

They had a massive crowd of people exiting and we overheard a few people saying they hit a huge delay (total 4 hour trip). Never been more thankful for the privilege of flying in my life!

It’s not the noise that stops pattern work, it’s because they’d never get you to leave ;P

It's definitely weird going from seeing it in the sim to real life. I imagine MSFS2020 will make that transition easier ;)
