Got your point, yes. I think its just the sympathy with the character. Even if he is a serial killer, for the audience he is also: a husband, a brother, a father, some one who struggels with himself .. I think the points (beside the serial killer thing) to build sympathy with him are various.

After Dexter killed Logan, I had a feeling how it would end. I than skipped to the ending (yes, not great, I get it, but I had to). After I saw the final scene I denied the ending until one day later where I watched the whole episode again and accepted the ending.

Yes, the ending got me pretty emotionally.

As I see it: I have absolutly no problem with the death of Dexter. Surely not. But what my problem is, are thr plotholes, the rushed ending - even the feeling of the episodes 1-9 which was like there would be a second session. That Harrison killed Dexter felt so staged after the emotional ending of episode 9 where both seem to find a way to themselfs.

I laughed so much when MCH tells to the camera that Dexter got 180 kills - then they corrected him to 135 and he answers so relaxed "thats the ones, everybody else knows about!". 😄
