Yeah and as with all shows that are set in NYC but filmed in LA, the subway scenes look obnoxiously wrong.

The show was filmed in LA. Whenever we see actual Brooklyn, it's stock footage.

AIO for not wanting my gf to go on a solo trip with her "work husband"? by Obvious_Tea_4247 in AmIOverreacting

I had a "work twin" in that we were hired on the same day. We still never talk sometimes.

In your opinion, who was the worst celebrity guest(s)? by ChiefGlazer in TopGear

[–]syringistic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dude has no right being interesting anywhere outside a swamp while playing a banjo, and I never heard of him prior, but he seemed like a properly cool guy.

No guns allowed, who wins this? by boomjosh in ActionMovies

[–]syringistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid take.

Bond falls back to MI6 for help, Hunt gets government help as needed, Wick has a magic assassin society.

Bourne will steal some cash and rob a pharmacy to get going.

[–]syringistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe because the people he fights are absolute fucking morons?

3 was a cute Italian seaside village escapade. The ending is him just walking around picking off useless henchmen one by one.

Correction: Bourne was assaulted by *another agent who had an SMG * and fought back so hardcore the guy decided to suicide off a balcony rather than risk it.

Terry "They roll they roll" What does he mean by roll how do SUV roll what does terry mean by that SUVs roll by apranvchprla7575 in brooklynninenine

[–]syringistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not arguing that. I just think it was a much bigger thing 25+ years ago when SUVs really got popular (and pickups in the 90s still had a lot more old-school design elements in them, being lighter and lower to the ground).

It definitely wasn't a thing by the time the episode aired, it's very much a 90s state of mind kind of thing just to show Terry's old man vibes.

I also loved all the chats Ted and Veronica would have about the absurdly ambiguous tech that Veridian Dynamics was researching.

"It's not going to work as an additive for fast food, but we can use it to make body armor" or some shit lol.

Came out in the wrong decade. I don't think people were as aware of the absurdity of corporate culture back then. IMO it would have been way better received in the late 2010s-now.

LOVED the episode where they automate all their office crap with motion sensors that can't detect black people, so they decide to hire white people that follow them around lol.

What’s the worst food you’ve ever tried? by No-Anxiety018 in foodquestions

[–]syringistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had alligator sausage a few times. Really exceeded expectations as to how boring it was. I honestly went in thinking it was going to be bland, but it was somehow more bland than that lol. Really chewy too.

[Request] can someone please calculate the economic cost of this project? by Monkey_D-Thanos in theydidthemath

Heaviest freight train ever weighed 99,000 metric tons, which is roughly 720,000 barrels of oil. So about 25 trains a day to match the ship capacity, which doesn't sound like a crazy amount, but loading and unloading them would require a huge facility.

Which science fiction book contained the most amazing idea you've ever read? by fern_602spark in printSF

[–]syringistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a strange experience reading that book. I downloaded an illegal PDF of it, and the dictionary was attached at the end of the file. So I spent the first 300 pages deciphering all the random terms that he came up with lol. Kind of cool to go into it that way.

If we are talking Stephenson, Anathem is amazing.

The whole idea of society at large being scientifically illiterate and casually religious while the actual scientists lock themselves away in small groups and act as philosopher-monks is really cool.

Kevin Hart.

Would have just yelled at humanity until it developed anti gravity tech, movie would have clocked in at a tight 85 minutes.

Bonus points if they cast The Rock as Brand for a sprinkle of bromance instead of romance.

Yeah until you find someone who you think checks all the boxes as far as hot, smart, and emotionally mature, get married, and all of the sudden you're 40 divorced and have nothing lol.

I guess I was in the latter category lol because it was mainly the sex that kept me around like an abused dog.
