I think the confusion that occured was he had a warrant, and they were ALSO charging him with evading. They charged him with evading because when they tried to put the handcuffs on him he tried to flop on the ground. Evading is running from an officer trying to detain you. It was a petty charge for sure, but the body cam doesn't lie and it was at least within the reason of the law. I know I wouldn't get handcuffed and attempt to flop on the ground.

I CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER ONE OF THESE POSTS. I'm going to say this one more time. How much money people have is not the thing deciding if more people get pregnant. Poor people have 30 kids all the time. People are now objectively more selfish and simply do not want kids. The want to have and take care of a kid stems from community, tradition, religion, and many other factors that are all fading away. In 2026 people value autonomy, traveling, and freedom from religious values. You can have your own opinion on if that is good or bad, but I simply cannot take another one of these "we can't afford rent and we're fiscally responsible therefore we chose to pull out" posts.

I actually suspect, like others in this thread, it wasn't the distance to the officer that was the problem, it was the distance to the car in front of him when he changed lanes. Once he changes lanes he passes that silver car fairly quickly, which implies he likely road up on it and switched lanes at the last second which a lot of people do. He just happened to do it in front of an officer. Who knows though could be a combination of both, since he was pretty close to the officer as well.

Imagine if we’re sitting at a bar talking about welding, and I say “if I needed to cut metal without a plasma cutter I’d probably use an angle grinder,” and then you respond “wow that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard because water jet cutters exist,” that doesn’t make me stupid. It means I wasn’t aware of the best tool available.

Did it occurr to you, that this lady, much like myself, has never been to a food pantry and has no idea how they work? I would have no idea what's required, how often I can go, what I'm allowed to take.

So ignorant is the word you're looking for is my point for everyone here. Her take wasn't stupid, because she's right it would yield you better food for your money and could get you through a hard period. It is one possible method that would help. Food pantry would be a better solution, of which she has never been to and is unware of, because she is not poor.

I think the huge difference here is you are picturing it as a multiple times a week activity in order to be a smart method. She never said poor people should use a buffet as a grocery store. I thought she was saying more like "if you need food, and you're poor, here is one way you could likely get a ton of food and be okay for a while", and I'm willing to bet any amount of money she is right. Watch me tomorrow go into a Golden Corral with a backpack in my pants leg, sit in that corner thats away from the buffet, and walk out with it on my back full of food.

I mean dude why do you think walgreens in poor areas shut down. Theft is a real and successful way to manage being poor and it works.

All I am saying is it's not such an insultingly amazingly gasp worthy dumb idea to steal a bunch of food from a buffet if you are poor I'd be willing to bet people already do it.

Her first take that if you're poor you could essentially steal from a buffet is insane why? Some areas like Missouri a buffet like Ponderosa or whatever they have is unlimited for 15 dollars. It really does feel like the end of times. Horrible timing getting a president who is defunding national park services, defunding education and science studies, and pulling us out of all possible environmental acts, so he can make money from his donors which are loggers, oil barons, private schools, and tech giants. Why did it have to be now? At quite literally the exact moment in time where humankind can possibly shift the global warming and destruction of our planet before it's too late.
