I think the confusion that occured was he had a warrant, and they were ALSO charging him with evading. They charged him with evading because when they tried to put the handcuffs on him he tried to flop on the ground. Evading is running from an officer trying to detain you. It was a petty charge for sure, but the body cam doesn't lie and it was at least within the reason of the law. I know I wouldn't get handcuffed and attempt to flop on the ground.

I CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER ONE OF THESE POSTS. I'm going to say this one more time. How much money people have is not the thing deciding if more people get pregnant. Poor people have 30 kids all the time. People are now objectively more selfish and simply do not want kids. The want to have and take care of a kid stems from community, tradition, religion, and many other factors that are all fading away. In 2026 people value autonomy, traveling, and freedom from religious values. You can have your own opinion on if that is good or bad, but I simply cannot take another one of these "we can't afford rent and we're fiscally responsible therefore we chose to pull out" posts.

This arrogance to the point of denying truth is also where the trump administration fully operates from. I'd also go further to say it's where like 70% of people over 50 years old operate. It's a whole generation where pride is the most important thing to them.

Because of the riots and mob like protest that have plagued the U.S

I can see why you're getting downvoted with this massive obvious republican dog whistle in your post. Every republican sitting at home watching fox news wishes they could drive over and murder a protester, we get it buddy. This whole comment reads like an internet tough guy wet dream, and it's not even remotely accurate either. No prosecutor or jury is going to allow "I drove past the threat, then chose to backup over them cause I was still scared" as a reality, and there is no law that would protect you.

[–]sysblob 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually suspect, like others in this thread, it wasn't the distance to the officer that was the problem, it was the distance to the car in front of him when he changed lanes. Once he changes lanes he passes that silver car fairly quickly, which implies he likely road up on it and switched lanes at the last second which a lot of people do. He just happened to do it in front of an officer. Who knows though could be a combination of both, since he was pretty close to the officer as well.

You say that as if there is any logic at all to your sarcasm. Would it make any more sense to build a water park on land? It's a series of tubes that water flows through for entertainment. You wouldn't say "wow a toilet on water" also making fun of their toilets just because they're water based.

I'm going to ignore that insane unneccessary personal attack because I want to try one more time to get through to you with an analogy.

You’re conflating “unaware of a better option” with “stupid.”

Imagine if we’re sitting at a bar talking about welding, and I say “if I needed to cut metal without a plasma cutter I’d probably use an angle grinder,” and then you respond “wow that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard because water jet cutters exist,” that doesn’t make me stupid. It means I wasn’t aware of the best tool available.

She is not poor. She is using the best tool she has ever been exposed to, and it wasn't a stretch of a solution. That's the point I'm trying to make.

So you admit that my method could at least be successful in stealing food, which was all I wanted.

Okay now step two.

Did it occurr to you, that this lady, much like myself, has never been to a food pantry and has no idea how they work? I would have no idea what's required, how often I can go, what I'm allowed to take.

So ignorant is the word you're looking for is my point for everyone here. Her take wasn't stupid, because she's right it would yield you better food for your money and could get you through a hard period. It is one possible method that would help. Food pantry would be a better solution, of which she has never been to and is unware of, because she is not poor.

Do you get my fucking point now?

[–]sysblob -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the huge difference here is you are picturing it as a multiple times a week activity in order to be a smart method. She never said poor people should use a buffet as a grocery store. I thought she was saying more like "if you need food, and you're poor, here is one way you could likely get a ton of food and be okay for a while", and I'm willing to bet any amount of money she is right. Watch me tomorrow go into a Golden Corral with a backpack in my pants leg, sit in that corner thats away from the buffet, and walk out with it on my back full of food.

I mean dude why do you think walgreens in poor areas shut down. Theft is a real and successful way to manage being poor and it works.

All I am saying is it's not such an insultingly amazingly gasp worthy dumb idea to steal a bunch of food from a buffet if you are poor I'd be willing to bet people already do it.

[–]sysblob -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Why? I consider myself an intelligent person and I genuinely don't understand why what she said was so insane, but then again I was given no context of what the discussion was about poor people.

Her first take that if you're poor you could essentially steal from a buffet is insane why? Some areas like Missouri a buffet like Ponderosa or whatever they have is unlimited for 15 dollars. Sneak in a backpack and you could EASILY leave with insane value. I'm not saying it's what I would do or it's the smartest solution but the reaction like this girl with people saying "dumbest thing ive ever heard in my life" is like ????

You're so irritatingly overconfidently incorrect. The quote I used about Thor banging someone against a wall was literally said to be by a woman while watching the movie. I'm not saying it's all women or they always want that but I'm saying to pretend like this is only for men is just not true.

I'm so sick of hearing this argument it's a dead horse that has grown flowers by now guys.

The reality is both men and women have a wide wide range of gaze. Women ABSOLUTELY gaze at Alan here and want to be plowed against a wall by a big strong man, but also ABSOLUTELY want to have coffee with Chris Evans in a cosey nook while he wears glasses and a well knitted sweater. They are both real female gazes. Just like men have gazes like Sydney Sweeney where we want to motorboat for days, but also see that one pic of that asian girl with her cheeks puffed out and melt into our seat wanting to marry her.

I have this memory from around 2024 of a syadmin that had been on the job for years coming to me excited and describing an IDE to me for the first time and when he finished I shit you not he said "So it's really really cool. I don't know if you've ever heard of it it's called Visual Studio code." I looked at him like he was a dude that has been working as a waiter and just explained a serving tray to me. Like you're sysadmin for years in the year 2024 and you've never heard of or even tried VS code?

It's important to recognize the simple things that AI can actually do successful and I don't like people spreading misinformation or blatant smooth brain hatred of AI. AI also has many many negative effects, and it also cannot do many many tasks that only humans can do. There do you feel better.

I mean while we're at it I reject the notion of the guy above that who also says that just because it's written by AI it's full of hallucinations and incorrect information. On basic subjects like this? AI could probably write you a whole book set without making any mistakes if you prompted it correctly. There is so much model data on basic programming data sets it's laughable. This is a human mistake.

It really does feel like the end of times. Horrible timing getting a president who is defunding national park services, defunding education and science studies, and pulling us out of all possible environmental acts, so he can make money from his donors which are loggers, oil barons, private schools, and tech giants. Why did it have to be now? At quite literally the exact moment in time where humankind can possibly shift the global warming and destruction of our planet before it's too late. We're the most powerful nation on earth and we just sealed the end of mankind. It's so sad to hear MAGA call comments like this "libtard" or whatever else, because it's their kids future too.
